I think that there are many of my favorites. Mary Shelley and Steven King have mainstream appeal even after years of their first books, what's yours?

I don´t read many Science Fiction books, so I don´t know many of the authors to be able to compare. But I enjoyed very much Asimov and thought that his Robot stories were superb and went farther than just science fiction.

Dean Koontz, like King, is often placed in horror but I see some of them as science fiction. The first one of his I ever read concerned time travel. He is my favorite though. I can't seem to get in to King's work, or at least most of them. I think its because the plot takes too long to get moving in the ones I have tried to read.

My favorite SF author is a human being. Now if you ask me who, then its Douglas Adams who wrote my favorite science fiction book The Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. It is so fascinating and very funny. You will meet aliens with strange characteristics and travel through time.
