How to Deal with Shedding

Okay, I have two cats. And this season, they are starting to shed. They shed their fur almost everywhere. Even though they don't scratch, their fur just fall of. My boy has his own kitty too and he said it's cat's shedding season, since his cat also sheds now. However, the falling fur irritates my mom. There are furs in the sofa, on top of the table, on the window, on the floor, almost everywhere, which drives her nuts. She wanted to have my cats go bald to stop them from shedding. How can i deal with my cat's shedding? How can I stop or at least minimize their shedding?

All cats that have fur will shed all year long however, they will shed a lot more during Spring and even more in the Summer time. There's nothing anybody can do about it for it's the way cats bodies work. They're shedding their winter coat for it's too hot for them in the summer time. Why don't you put some sheets on the couch and chair or maybe use a blanket? You could also brush your cats with a pet brush and get as much off as you can. Your cats will still shed even after being brushed but not as bad. You could vacuum a little bit each day to keep the fur balls down a bit. But no, there isn't anything you can do about it other than brush them.

Thank you very much for the idea, CastandDogs. I don't have a vacuum at home, is there any alternative? I also tried brushing my cats, but I think my cats aren't comfortable with my brushing. Can you give me more tips? Thank you very much!

Can you borrow a vacuum from one of your neighbors or friends? The only suggestion I have is to use sheets on your couch so that when you wash them and you'll be washing away the fur. Another idea is to use tape to remove the fur that's already on your furniture then put a sheet on it. Also, when you pet your cats, rub your hands together with the shedded fur and it'll knot it up so you can throw it away.

Thanks for the tips. My mom suggested that I'll be cutting my cats' furs. It's not good, isn't it?

I don't know if we can do anything with our pet's shedding. My pug and poms also shed a lot this summer season. I have changed shampoos but still no effect. I always vacuum the carpet twice a day when to get rid of their furs and I avoid carrying them because their furs stuck in my shirt.

I hate furs stuck in my shirt and slacks! It looks bad especially if I wear black. :(
