I was just having lunch with some workmates a few days ago and we ended up discussing things we remembered when we were younger when it's the lenten season. We came up with some really interesting practices and superstitions: 1. We're not allowed to watch TV, listen to the radio and even play. Boisterous laughter will get you a scolding; 2. Do not take a bath when it's Good Friday 3. Do not cut your fingernails 4. Feed amulets with prayers for more power 5. Bad spirits are all around because Jesus is dead How about you? Any interesting practices you want to share?

When I was a kid, during Holy Weel, she would often scare me that from the hoours of 1pm to 3pm, "Satanistas" would roam around in our area to get kids who are naughty and those who will not sleep during Siesta time. Then I was taught not to eat meat and not take a bath 3pm onwards. Never asked why though.

I think not eating meat is part of fasting and abstinence

one thing I remember when I was a child is my mother would always tell me to be careful. She said that we should avoid having bruises and wounds on holy week because it will not heal. Because of that, we were not allowed to play outside. Instead we just played at home or watch tv.

My mother used to tell me that too.. About not having bruises, wounds or cuts during good Friday as she said it would take much longer to heal

We never practice any of there stuff really. But i have also seen some friends who do not eat meat every Friday starting on the ash Wednesday. Others also go on fasting. I have also heard about that, that we should not take a bath.i and that we should not have fun as well because we ought to be. In prayers all the time.

I'm not really a believer in this even though I my self is a Christian. But we are still following some, especially not eating meat, not cutting our fingernails and watch TV. But it seems like I am online now. Sigh. But there are some other beliefs though like, maintaining peace, quiet and love for the week and no fighting or arguing. I really wonder if these beliefs or superstitions are really true.

I remembered the thing about not taking a bath on good Friday. What I learne from my mother is the "belief" that you should not take a bath after 10am. Because supposedly, Jesus has already been carrying that cross that time... I think that's old people belief and not actually one that is enforced by the catholic church.
