Verily it is said: "Forgive those who offended you and forget what has been done." However, sometimes it is better to distance yourself to your debtors even if you have forgiven them so as to allow true and genuine healing to come; as only God, in HIS time, heals. Nonetheless, authentic healing could come for long especially if the cause of pain was DISRESPECT...

True enough. He is the only one who could heal time and all other wounds. Time would be able cure it also. Once you are already ready to open up with those who hurt you, life would be the same again. It's just like that. What I love about Him is that he will show the way on the truth of everything we do. Forgive and forget is also one of my favorite quotes. It's something that could uplift me whenever I am in conflict with someone or something.

Thanks for the comment misterMR! Likewise, I also like this quotation. It's just that this Holy Week, I was able to ponder the relevance of this quote to the incident that happened to me three years ago. It was when people whom I considered true friends jeopardized our friendship by disrespecting me. Consequently, the relationship was tarnished and up to now, we don't talk. Although, just as I said, I have forgiven them already, it's just that I kept distance from them.

It's nice to hear that you have already forgiven them. Even though it is hard for a person to forgive, because inside it truly hurts. I'm glad you were able to do your thing. Have a blessed Holy Week rokudaime!

" forgiving your enemies" is one of the reasons I Can't be a true Christian. I know that if I were to be forced to forgive it would destroy me from within. I reserve the right to hate whomever I choose. But with that said , I can forgive the actions of people if and Only if they apologize immediately. But I will never be as close as I was.

Yep, you have to learn from your mistakes. Also, you can always "forgive but not forget." Forgiving is a good thing and should always be practiced but you can also learn from your mishaps by not forgetting what happened to you. That way, you make the best of both worlds.
