I can't, I tried it once, I can't even keep it half open..it hurts. maybe it's because f the chlorine in swimming pools or the salt in beaches.. but I see on tv that people open their eyes underwater effortlessly. Can you do that?

I believe with practice it is possible, especially for those who are underwater frequently through swimming. I have never been able to do it, but then again im rarely underwater lol

I also believe that nothing is impossible, as long as you have dedication and will to do it. Then maybe you need practice as much as I do..don't you want to open your eyes underwater too?

Yeah, it would have been really nice to go swimming before, when the waters weren't so polluted and full of chemicals.. I wish I could've seen them then, I would love to swim there and see the untouched coral reefs ..

I believe we can but it really hurts if you did longer and our eyes might get irritated. What we see on TV, I don't know if they really can open their eyes maybe they did something you know our technology now can do almost anything as if the real thing. If you practice it maybe you can but don't do it often.Good luck

Yes, that is what I am afraid of, irritating my eyes... But i don't think the actors that I see on television and in movies are doing tricks or anything ...maybe they just practice a lot and prepare..

What you say is practically dificult,as one gets hurt if they try to open. What you have seen may be divers who open their eyes with the safe glasses they use.

So have you tried opening your eyes underwater yet? Some of the users here can do it though, so I guess anyone can. And I will try to learn how to do it too. But i've seen divers use goggles though.

The only pool I regularly go to is the one at my grandfather's house and he uses a lot of chlorine and ever since I was 4, I have been able to open my eyes underwater no problem. I don't understand why but I just think it looks so cool and I feel like a mermaid XD

Wow, you are lucky.. Maybe I just need practice.. I don't even swim that much anymore. I'm busy and we don't really have any relatives who owns a pool around here.

Yes, I can open my eyes under water. I have practiced this in a bath tub. I practiced putting my face in a bath tub with my eyes open, for a period of one month. Later I habituated to open my eyes under water.

Hi. lady1993. No. I know that I can't open my eyes underwater at all. I can't even swim. I think that I would be afraid to open up my eyes underwater, because I don't think that I can handle the salt from the pool or beach water getting into my eyes.

I believe you can do it as well, but it takes time...As for me, before this I am the exact copy of you, unable to open my eyes in the water...But as the time goes by, I believe I should learn how to open my eyes in the water because I will need them every now and then when my family and I go for a swim in a pool nearby my house...After some time I was able to open my eyes in the water... I believe everyone can do that, but it takes time...Take your time, believe in yourself and just do it cold-turkey...I believe you will be able to open your eyes soon...Good luck!

Thank you for your encouragement and advice. I know I just need practice. I wanted to open my eyes underwater to see the beauty below, the reefs and fishes. So I'll practice.
