I am currently planning to buy an SLR but cannot seem to decide which brand or what type should I go for. Any suggestions?

For me, it is all in the way a photographer use it. All DSLR cameras are great. I have bought my husband a Canon EOS 1000 (Rebel), supposed to be the cheapest and the entry level one. It does the job. We still have to find our way around the different settings to work out which setting is best for a particular type of photograph. I have tried a Nikon D60 owned by a friend. That was great too. Much better than our Canon Rebel. Cost-wise, it was a bit more than I was willing to spend, that's why I went for the Canon. I have never used a Sony DSLR, though I owned a Point and Shoot one. If it is anything like their point and shoot cameras, it will be great. Again, I'd like to reiterate what other members have suggested. Just stick to your budget and buy one. Whatever you buy, you need to familiarise yourself with it, and after that, all are great, in my opinion.

Oh Thank you so much for those wonderful ideas.. I too somehow prefer Canon, but the price is much higher than Nikon. SO yeah, maybe i'll just stick to what my budget can go for. Cheers! :D

Depending on the money you have, and what the usual brands you like. you can try a frind's cameras from varius brands. When it finds a suitable pleas you buy a DSLR camera.

It depends on which camera brand you're comfortable with. I tried using my friend's Nikon and Canon DSLRs. Both brands are ok. But I bought my Nikon D3100 because I'm more comfortable using Nikon. Besides, it's not the camera, it's how you take pictures that matters. If you have friends who have DSLR cameras, try them first.^_^

I own a Sony A350. I bought it 2 years ago though. I can't really tell you what brand is good because obviously I'll be biased. I'm obviously gonna say Sony over Nikon and Canon. Check your budget and get the most out of it. But I tell you, it's not in the DSLR camera, it's in the photographer. Good Day!!!
