The so-called Filipino originals

It seems like nowadays, Filipinos are running out of ideas in terms of music, TV shows, fashion and a lot of other things to a point that we rely heavily on the influence of other countries. In terms of music alone, I can think of many that have tried to copy artists from countries such as Korea and the US. I even remember disliking this particular singer that has no original songs at all but has instead a collection of songs which she has slowed and turned into jazzy types of music (Im not sure about this) including telephone, baby, teenage dream, single ladies and other songs that really became famous. Then let's now talk about the television, my GULAY! We've been seeing the same things over and over and over and over again. Filipinos out there know what I'm talking about. If we're not repeating it, we probably based it on some international movie or series (talk about Imortal). Is this all that us Filipinos can do? Be a copy cat? Sure it rakes in a whole lot of money but wouldn't we prefer to be known for things that are original to us. There are A LOT of TALENTED FILIPINOS in different fields. How can we not make original things? Is it not possible to do that?

Filipinos can be original in a lot of things, but I think anything we do will always have some foreign influence. I mean, ideas arose out of something we saw or heard. We just tweak it a little and viola, it's an original one. But you're right. It seems that money causes our artists to be unoriginal.

that's a big problem with us Filipinos. from music, fashion, to tv programs... we copy them all! the famous charice, where was she discovered? in youtube... by who? Oprah! when in fact she had already joined on-air contests here. she was not given the chance by our co-Filipinos who have the power to, but now that she's famous, the whole Philippines suddenly noticed her and taking a big part of her popularity by repeatedly saying that she's a part of our country and that she'd a Filipino... i dont really know why our country is like this... if the Philippines remains to be like this, how can we discover new original talented people in our country when we cant even notice those who performs in front of the camera...
