I use Norton 360 myself and I have not had any problems with it thus far. I don't think that any antivirus program is perfect though and so it may be a good thing to test different products. I'm staying with Norton as I run regular scans and my pc is working fine with no viruses. What I would recommend you do, and I don't know if you do this already, is to get yourself and external hard drive and carry out regular backups of all your important data. I carry out weekly backups myself, every Friday.
By doing this at least my information is safe if I have to suddenly reinstall windows. Andrew

Have a look at Comodo Internet Security. It has improved over the years, and is an effective pro-active security suite. On this point it shines above the rest, including those well-known security suites.
CIS gives the user a greater control over what to allow, and what to block if the setting is set to the maximum. I prefer it this way.
Ever since I changed to CIS I had no real problem.

For me, Deep Freeze is the Best. Invulnerable to any virus or malware or anything even to our kids.

Try Avast. It is what I'm using now and it is running fine. I recommend these three free antivirus: Kapersky, Avast and Norton. Microsoft essentials is also a good one since it successfully deletes most viruses. However, if you want to buy an anti-virus software, try Shield Deluxe 2011.
An extra tip though, whenever there is virus that would affect the C:\ partition system files, never try to even delete it. It's best to do disk clean up and disk fragment for these types of viruses.
