and I don't know how I feel...scared, worried, denial...I'm not sure. It is a cancer called neuroendoctrine carcenoma, which is a form of small cell cancer that invades the digestive system and affects hormones. The treatment is chemotherapy. They cannot find the primary site. I've been searching the internet for information, but it is really hard to understand. I do know it is treatable, but not curable. There is no prognosis for life expectancy because there are too many variables. She is 42 and has a 15 year old daughter and an 11 year old son. I wonder if any nyLoters can help me? Has anyone any information that may help me understand what to expect?

Sorry to hear about your daughter's cancer, this is really sad. Can you check for Cancer Treatment Centers of American online and see if they offer some brochures and or additional support. They take a wide variety of insurance plans, although the information will certainly be free. My prayers for your daughter, children and you.

Thank you very much. I did take a quick look, The problem is, although it is small cell cancer, they can't find the primary site. It has to do with the digestive system and hormones, so there are many possibilities. Most sites talk about small cell lung cancer, but her lungs are clear. I will look more closely at the site and see what I can find. Thanks.

I feel so bad and I wish I could just give you a great big hug. Your daughter is experiencing her own thought process now. I had cancer and the feelings that goes along with hearing the words you have cancer is such a mix of emotions. I am going to research it and If I find anything out I will let you know. I did all the research on mine and new exactly what I was in store for I had head neck. I know being a mom how you must feel but right now she needs her mom more than any one. I will pray extra hard and God Bless you and your family.

The only help I can give you is too encourage you to be more courageous and don't lose hope. I have a friend who is very close to me and she is a cancer survivor although she was told that she has a 25% that she will have it again.I don't know about this type of cancer but what I know is, in this 21st century, there have been medical breakthroughs that has benefited a lot of people who has the big C. You have to be strong, for your daughter, she needs you more than ever.

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughter's cancer.I know it's really hard to accept the truth especially for your daughter. You could also ask for second opinion but we all know doctors are most probably right.Anyway, I hope money is not a problem so just go with chemotherapy treatment.I'll include your daughter in my prayers.

Hello lacieice, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I pray for you and your family that you have the strength to cope with what lies ahead of you all, and for your daughter that she has confidence and faith in herself to face the trials of her treatment. Have faith and don't lose hopes, she is going to be alright! Also you have to really strong which is going to be very difficult for you, but the way you are going to cope with this will help her children cope with their mothers' illness. Its all right, calm down and be a strong mom. Just would like to know whether its in the initial stage or not. Therd r different types of treatment for this. My grandpa had cancer. Chemotherapy and such treatments r the few of thd options. I am from india, and we have 'ayurvedic' treatments available for cancer. I know a few doctors who gives these treatment. There r chances of cure thru this. I'll try to check out more and let u know. But, for now, as i said stay strong and calm ur daughter and dont feel as if there is cancer, try to live the normal life and to let each other know that we all care. My prayers and blessings with u all. God bless.

This particular form of cancer is not curable. The doctors did not say what stage she is in, although it has traveled to her lymph nodes. Not good, I would think.

I am sorry to hear about your daughters diagnosis. I have a cousin that was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus they did x-rays and said it had spread and that surgery wouldn't do any good. They even went as far as to say he was in stage 4. He had lost a lot of weight because he couldn't eat. Well that was 2 years ago. He took his chemo treatments and he is alive and kicking has gained all his weight back. Are you and your daughter members of a church?, if so believe in God have the faith, I mean that mountain moving faith. Get some of the church members who are really Christians following the will of God to pray for her. Continue to do as the doctors instruct you to do. Just remember God has the last WORD. I don't know your daughter's name but I will add her to my prayer list. For those names I don't know the Holy Spirit will intercede for us and take the right Words up to the Father. God Bless you and your daughter.

I understand what you're going through. If money is no concern, what I would do is find he best medical specialist and treatment available. Go ahead with the chemotherapy without delay. Also, always be on hand to give moral support to your daughter. Always reassure her and make things easy for her. Have hope, things will turn out for the best.

Thank you for taking the time to offer your encouragement. As far as I know, her medcical insurnace is covering everything right now. I suggested she think about getting a second opinion, but she is against that. Again, thanks.
