Holy week in the Philippines is a time for some of the families to go back to their provinces or go on trips for a few days. It's also the time when the houses are left to be very vulnerable. (Or at least the crooks make the houses vulnerable. )
The other day while I was tutoring around 10 pm at my auntie's balcony, I thought I saw a person wearing white pass on the street outside. I could not make out his/her face because the streets were very dark. After finishing my tutoring class around 12 am, I saw the same person again walking the opposite direction. At first, I thought that it was a white lady or a white man or something like that. I was even actually scared to tutor at the balcony the following night. I mean, who would be walking in the dead of night, especially here in the very dark streets of the subdivision?
Earlier today, my tita learned that that same night, a nearby house got robbed. tsk. My auntie said that the person would've probably been the one that I saw. It made me really sad. It's the Holy Week and it's supposedly the time we especially dedicate for Christ but nowadays, take the opportunity of these occasion to rob other people of what they worked hard for. Talk about the absence of conscience.
So, please, a reminder to all those who will leave their houses, make sure that your home is secure. Also, do not forget what the week is all about. :)
