Some are easily persuaded, others are persuaders

I am curious because I always see people throwing out their ideas for everyone else to say, yeah I agree... then they go and use these ideas as if they thought of it themselves. This is natural but this is also how people are brainwashed or convinced to buy a product from a commercial. It is how people form common views about other people like politicians, friends and enemies.
Sometimes the common views are wrong. Have you ever felt that you were the only one who thought for yourself while everyone else was copying what their friends said?
In small communities this seems to happen a lot. One person who is good at persuading will spread an idea about someone.. saying that person is bad or mean. Then without even getting to know that person, everyone will look at him or her in a bad way. There is a book called the 27 Powers of Persuasion. I thought it was really interesting because it talks about how you can be an effective persuader.
At the same time, it annoyed me because these are the types of people who put ideas into the blank minds who don't really think for themselves.
On one hand, persuasion is a very useful tool, and on the other hand it is sad that people can be so easily persuaded all the time. Do you think of yourself as a good persuader?

I do not. Nor do I let other people persuade me into doing things and saying thing I don't want to. I think for myself. That probably why I don't have many friends. But that's okay. Happy Easter.

yes the road less travelled by is often a lonely one. Although, having few friends is not necessarily lonely. It is just less noise, less drama, less foolishness.

I'm not sure I am a persuader, but I am not a follower for sure. I think that there are people who are naturally good at convincing people, but I have to give credit to the fact that people sometimes look for a lead to follow. It is instinct to want to be part of a "group", or so I have read.

I'm like that too, I haven't exactly learned the skill of persuading but I'm not easily persuaded. All that psychology stuff, I guess it must be true for many people. I may have missed out on that gene.

yes, it is a bit silly some times, don't you think? I wonder how much of the business world is simple persuasion rather than truely great products and services.
