2012 Dooms Day; Does the World finally come to an End?

Many article and even movies were made recently all predicting that the world and life on earth will come to an end shortly. Some prediction date back to Nostradamus writings, Hopie Indian stone carvings, and the Mayan calendar all predicting pending doom. Do you believe in these "rumours"? Have you heard of those prophecies? How do you react to it? What would yo do if it would be true? How would you spend the remaining days? Would your life change, and how? To me, a sceptic but fanatic of the subject, I wouldn't change a thing. Come what comes. There are no preparations to be done. I would/will lead my life as I normally do.

The word "doom" as an end of the world for the human beings is something I belive in, not because I´m a believer in predictions but because we are doing all we can do to make our planet impossible for life. We are the worst predators, we pollute the places where we live, we use more of the earth´s bounty than we need. I could go on. I feel THAT spells doom, with no aid from Nostradamus, mayas or hopis. I am spending my remaining days doing a little so my grandchildren will have remaining days. I recycle, don´t overspend, use a UN sponsored search tool to donate rice to people (2 billion) who are undernourished (check freerice.com). There are lots of other little things to do if we don´t want doom´s day to come. Love and be happy!

Yes of course doom means "judgment" ususally in the negative sense and can be brought on by nature and laws. Polution, droughts, hunger, polar-ice caps melting, tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes... How great that you help to feed the malnourished.

Some may really have bases but I think the world will not end yet. If there is something that will happen, it is not the end, I think there will only be changes in our world. Unexpected calamities may come like earthquakes, typhoon, tsunami etc. But the world will still exist and Life will still continue. So guys dont be afraid. If ever things like that will occur, take it as a challenge and trial that we have to face and surpass.

Those are just predictions and pretty vague at it, but some day -sooner or later- doomsday may actually come.

hello there! There really is no proof that 2012 is the end. In the most optimistic way, let's just look at the end of 2012, as the beginning of a good change. However, since I am superstitious, and based on the increase in catastrophes, I have a feeling that the end will come soon. SO come what will come. I'll live my life to the fullest! :D

Well, I don't believe a word of what they say, so of course I'm not gonna make preparations of any kind. Anyway, from a scientific point of view, you need an agent to destroy the world, and quite a powerful one; since there seem to be no upcoming threats, I'm not worried... Let's just remember how many times in history humans have been told by other humans that the world was about to end. Here in Italy we have plenties of churches built in the 10th century just because people thought that apocalypse was coming (which of course wasn't true!). If there's something that can be done, let's do it; otherwise, let's just keep calm and live our lives, normally. At least that's my point of view.

Well observed. I think it's just a coincidence that a couple of predictions are out there for something to happen in 2012. A you pointed out, going back in history, there were a couple mis-predictions. Lucky us!
