The internet breeds ANIMOSITY!

See I'm a seasonal player of online games, most recently been playing Ragnarok Online. From experience I've got to meet countless other players in countless games, and I have to say is what all games have in common is you'll always get that hand-full of haters and "trash-talkers". Those viciously condescending individuals that love nothing more than to hate on and kick sand on those they considered weaker or less proficient in whatever aspect of the game they're on. And I recall an episode of Glee I just watched last week where Holly said the internet allows people (especially kids) these days to be outright mean to others because of the security that anonymity that the internet provides. People are set loose to say whatever they want under the cover of a pseudonym and without fear of any repercussion. Which in a sense is good for the short run since its a good way to express whatever feelings the can't face out in the real world. But the long term effect of this is that people will eventually become comfortable with just tearing others down to get some self-worth instead of actually going out there and improving on the flaws they have and actually making themselves better persons. It makes them comfortable in their insecurities. It's like voluntarily stepping into quicksand... And whats worse is that they drag other people down the spiral they're on. So for those guys out there guilty of this, fun as it may be, trashing on someone does not make you better than them. It just ruins it, for everyone including yourself..

It was actually a nice thing to learn from glee's last episode. Anyway, I really don't like people like those that you mentioned. The best thing to do is probably to not give the satisfaction of being bothered by this people. Soon enough, they'll tire.

True, but we must not forget to actually learn from them. Though hurtful, they are a good way to assess your standing. Sometimes we have to get through all the sand and dirt to get to the real meaning behind their words.. Making lemonade out of lemons i suppose..
