Today is Easter so Happy Easter to everyone, I know a lot of people celebrate by cooking and having Easter egg hunts for the kids, I remember when I was young we used to go to my grandmothers all the time for Easter me and my cousins, and brother and my grandmother would cook a big meal having Ham, Potatoes of some kind , mashed potato salad, candied yams, and all kinds of things to eat even pies, and we would go outside after we ate and hunt for Easter eggs, now that I am older It is just like another day for me, my question is will you be cooking a big meal for Easter this year?

I did not have to cook. I went to my sister's and she did all the cooking and what a faboulous meal we had....sweet potatoes..ham..mashed potatoes..two salads...bread...two desserts. I was way full when we left. I wasn't going to even get a chance to be there because I worked but I ended up getting done early so I got to attend!

Traditionally, I make turkey for Easter but this year the turkeys were pretty expensive and the hams even more so. I decided instead to cook a boiled dinner with a corned beef brisket, potatoes, carrots and cabbage. I had a pie for dessert but we were all to full to even think about it since we spent the morning snacking on chocolate and the Easter cookies we baked last night. Tomorrow, I will take the leftovers and make bubble and squeak for brunch. That's the best part of a big dinner, the leftovers. I hope you had a nice Easter, however you celebrated.

That sounds good and I agree the left overs are the best! Happy Easter.

I don't always cook a big meal or sometimes my sister and I prepare a meal together for Easter... it really depends what each of us has going on when Easter comes around. Today, I'm making a turkey dinner at home... turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, turnip, peas, cranberry sauce and homemade gravy... I'm so hungry now LOL I used to always hide my girls' Easter chocolate/candy all around the house, upstairs and down, and I'd give them a gift bag or a basket to go and collect everything. Now they are older, so I generally give them a gift and we limit the amount of chocolate coming into the house (tooooo much temptation ). This morning, they each received a gift bag with some new clothing items they had been wanting, one of those gold-wrapped Lindor bunnies with the little bell around its neck, and some packets of mini-eggs. They were both very happy! People tell me that, when the kids grow up, they don't "need" Easter stuff anymore... but I will always give them a little something with an "I love you" Happy Easter to you too! I hope it's a lovely day

Hi. jahernandezrivas. Happy Easter to you as well! I did not cook a very big meal on this special day. I did however, cook some butter beans in the pot. My husband went out and bought us a meal from KFC. Me and the kids was supposed to be going over to my aunt's house. I wasn't feeling well enough to go so, I stayed at home. My kids did too. So, I know that my aunt had food at her house as well. I just did not attend because I wasn't feeling well at all.
