I've joined a number of sites that pay you to write articles and such recently and have been working on my first entries. I haven't written in a while and I'm not very confident in my skills. I mostly wrote essays and stories, so I can't tell for sure how articles should be structured. Anyone got any advice?

I see. I'm starting to get a few more ideas on what articles to write. I'm still concerned about being too audience specific, but I suppose I shouldn't worry too much. Life has a way of surprising us, I guess.

Hello harck721, nice to meet you. I am also a online writer at Bukisa and Triond. I hope you add me as a friend there. My pen name is GoldenAsh. There are some suggestions Write articles consistently. Do not give up. You will write more and more articles every month because you will know your way around. Use article Templates you can find then at Ezinearticle Blog. An article starts with an introduction paragraph, 2-3 body paragraph and of course one summarizing conclusion paragraph. Add picture, keep it short, note more than 500 words. People do not like long articles Keep it organized by adding headings

Is that your name for both sites? I just recently signed up for Triond, so I haven't been able to upload anything. Oh, and thank you for the tips. I will remember them and try my best to apply them.

A good article does three things: states the subject, analyses the subject, comes to conclusions or states opinion. If you're writing for article mills (AC, Helium, etc.) that's a good start. If you're picking up work for a particular company (magazine, site, etc.) they should have in-house guidelines that specify exactly what they look for. Sort of a "How to" for their writers. This is a really common question among writers (even experienced ones, since the market's constantly changing). Blowing my own trumpet, I looked at this in a blog post ages ago and ended up putting it on my site as a freebie - URL's in my profile, just hit Free Stuff on the nav bar once you're there. It may not be a definitive guide, but it might help.

As long as you believe in yourself and make a good research you are bound to be a good writer. Then ultimately practice is important. You seem to have what it takes, as i have read through some of your posts. Would you be interested to join my team of article writers? I am currently hiring more as I can provide articles on a daily basis. I sent you a friend request so that you can message me if you wish.

hi harck721, I'm so much interisting all about writing, even I dont how to make a good writing to read by people. I write for Shvoong in Indonesian version and very enjoy it. To write, you dont have to expert at the first, you can learn how to write by your self. If you write continuesly, then you will find your own writing charactheristic, slowly you know what to do and master every difficulty in writing. So, it's the right time to start. I think writing is not as easy as what people guess. We must do it slowly, learn, learn, trainee and more trainee. To raise your confidence, I suggest you to buy a book "Chicken Soup for The Writers Soul". It tell about the famous writers story, they didnt succeed at the first, they were failed and frustation, but they win at the last. I love the book because makes me have more spirit to write more and dont give up even I dont find that my articles already good to read, I just have anthusiastic to try

I joined few programs like that too. I'm not such an excellent writer myself. But we can improve. In order to write good articles, you have to make some research about the topics you are intended to write. Then make some planning about the structure of the articles. You have to plan carefully so that you can present what you want in the correct order and readers will waiting for your next articles.

Good luck to the both of us. ^-^ Also, we must take all the advice we can get, but be intelligent enough to choose which ones we should apply.

Well, i think the first thing you should make sure when you want to write a good article is that there is no grammatical errors and no mistakes in words choosing. Then the structure and the outlaying of the article should be clear and logic. The last but not the least is it is attractive or informative. If the content can't provide enough or clear informations readers are finding, or it is very dull, then it is not a good article. To write a good english article is not easy, especially for those whose mother tongue is not english, it needs both hard work and experiences.

English really isn't my first language, but I'm pretty confident with my grasp of it. It's the style/layout/structure that worries me. Thank you for the tips, I will make sure to remember/apply them. I will continue to write for experience.

Most of these sites do not pay you on the basis of how good or well written an article is but how many have visited, seen your article and left comments. These may not have the slightest clue about how a good article is written! It is purely a commercial approach and those who really wish to write well should not join any of these sites.

I wish to write well, but in the mean time, I also need to earn a bit of money for myself. I know it's not a good motivation for writing, but my parents could only support me for so long and with so much. I do write stories, but I don't haven't found any sites/contest to send them to. The only writing jobs I could find online ask for articles, so I'm gearing up for this endeavor.

There is no specific format. But I noticed that articles that are written with bullet points tend to do well at search engines. Also they must be 250 to 300 words long. This gives the bots plenty of keywords to search for in the articles. Don't worry about skills. They will keep polishing up the more you will write.
