I've met a number of people who do this, myself not excluded. My laptop's name is Fort (short for Digital Fortress) and my external hard drive is Penguin (MSI brand = Marine Science Institute (MSI)). I do it for fun. What do you name your stuff and why did you name them that way? And lastly, why do you name your stuff in general?

I do rear some pet in my neighbourhood. I rear dogs and parrots. I do give them names. For example, I call my dog: whysky ( whysky is derived from an alcholic drinks that is sold globally.when you drink whysky it changes your mood. So I call my dog whysky because the dog can easily change his mood especially if it comes in contact with a stranger.

That's cute. ^-^ We have and have had a lot of pets too. We had names for all our dogs, cats and hamsters, but out love birds multiplied too fast. We only named the first pair. We tried to give all the others names, but they were too hard to keep track of.

Hello to you too, Cieldz. I guess there are a lot of things we do just for the sake of it, I guess. It's fun and help us treat our things better. Like pets, just not as, you know, responsive. It's nice when you get just a little bit lonely too. Nice names for your stuff by the way. ^-^

I give names to my toys and pets. Giving names to toys and pets for me is accepting them as family. Although, I am not used to give them to people unless I HAVE TO.

Yes, it's very sad when you have to give pets and toys away. I just think of it as making other people happy, but the loneliness that comes after never quite goes away. :(

My friend and I named some of our stuff. I named my violin Jihoo (the guy who played the violin in the korean drama, Boys Over Flowers) and her violin is named Hajji (a character who always carried his cello from the anime Blood Plus). Her laptop is named Keigo (name of a character from a japanese drama) All my stuff toys had names. My favorites were Sara (given by my korean student Sara), Ally (alligator stuffed toy I won at Enchanted Kingdom), Valentine (white teddy bear with a big heart in front) and Emerald (green teddy bear given to me on my birthday).

That's so nice. I also named all of my stuffed animals when I was younger since I always got those as presents. Now that I'm older, I'm down to just a few, and I still name all of them. It was heartbreaking to let go of my older stuffed toys, but it was for a worthy cause. Hopefully, they're making other children happy.

I suppose. It's all in the name of good fun. Anyway, it's easier to remember things when you have a nickname for it.
