When I was 20 years old I let out my cottage, got a working holiday visa and bought an airline ticket around the world. I was able to work in Australia legally for up to 3 months per employer. I worked as a children's nanny, packer in a factory and charity collector. Some people like to pick or pack fruit on farms. There is a book called "Work Your way Around the World" and it would be worth you reading it. My friend taught English as a foreign language in three different countries.

I think that is is very unfair which nationalities it allows to have a working holiday visa. I also managed to get a working holiday visa for New Zealand when I was 29 years old.

When I applied for my working holiday visa I had to show bank statements with a balance of over £2,000. I am delighted to hear that there are 100 places available for Indonesian people. Australia wants to be sure the working holiday maker can support his or herself whilst there. They want the person to be able to speak English. They like the person to have a return ticket so he or she goes back home before the visa expires.

Hi iklananda, yes it is very much possible to do so. See some of the good websites that I found. www.transitionsabroad.com wwoof.org helpaway.info You could work as a nanny, a housesitter or helper in a farm, helping pick fruits and vegetables, cultivate vegetable gardens, help caring for livestock etc. The opportunities are endless.

This is nice to know. I was thinking of these also. I would travel the world and at the same time you work for it... In that manner, no time is wasted... hehehe... I don't mind what kind of job it is as long as it feeds me, gives me a good home and go around the place and enough so that I can save for my next destination.

Yes, this is very possible and many people do it. I have backpacked a few times and done this. If you can be a waiter/waitress, or bartender, you have it made. You can get a job in no time, everywhere you go. You meet people everywhere you go who help you find a job and get adjusted quickly. There are a lot of backpackers today, so anywhere you go, you find people in the same vote as you that are easily to talk to and very willing to help because they were just in the same position. I love backpacking because it is a very acceptable group of people because everyone is doing the same thing. You always meet someone to tell you the ins and outs of your next destination and meet someone else to go to that destination with. If you are comfortable in your own skin, you are set and will have the time of your life.

It depends what you're interested in and willing to do. Like the other poster said, you could be a driver, pilot, etc. Or you could travel from place to place, working small jobs at each place you stay. If you're good at writing you could consider becoming a travel writer, writing for a magazine, website or even your own blog.
