Why won't Matt Damon be in the next Bourne movie?

The Bourne Legacy... I have watched all three and I loved Matt Damon's performance as Jason Bourne. 
I just wonder why he is not going to be in this film.. 
The one who's going to star in this film is Jeremy Renner (Hurt Locker).. I wonder how they're going to make a Bourne film with no Jason Bourne

How can there posssibly be Bourne movie without matt damon? he is the Borune reason for these films' success. No matt damon does not sound like a good thing to me.1 person likes this

The reason why Matt Damon won’t be in The Bourne Legacy is because it won’t directly be about Jason. Instead the storyline is about a retired operative who had previously been on the trail of Jason, as per the reason why Jeremy Renner has been cast in this new character.
What is interesting is that it doesn’t mean that Matt Damon won’t return to the role in the future if a decent storyline came up.

Well i have heard that it is because of personal reasons. But he has a choice who will replace him.

I don't know, maybe not. that's because matt damon has a unique character being a spy in the movies. he was supposed to be a super spy created by the government but turned rogue when he lost his memory.Ithink it's best if we have a women actresses who can portray the role in the 007 movie.
This is his unique role as a spy character. no need to add him to the 007 franchise.

I heard about that too..I am not so sure if Matt Damon would still be in it. But I am sure about Jeremy Renner, but i don't think he'll be the new Jason Bourne, maybe another character. I'll still watch it though since I like Renner from Hurt Locker.

This reminds me of hearing that Tobey Maguire wouldn't be in the SpiderMan 4 sequel. So when I hear this news, I also wonder how and why would they make a Spider Man 4 sequel without the major star. So for these reasons, I may or may not support the film. I've seen every Bourne series. I actually own all three DVDs as I own all the Spider Man dvds. So this is disappointing to hear. I rather them not make another one than to make the films without the stars. I did hear in a Matt Damon interview that he didn't want to make another "memory loss" film so maybe this is the case, and if so, just don't make a sequel without him.

The next film in the series is The Bourne Legacy in which there is no more Jason Bourne, there is a new character arising like Jason Bourne, so it's going to be a different story without Jason Bourne ....
