Would you agree, prejudice also occurs among who considered themselves lowly?

I said this piece because I have felt it. I am a manager in our office and I see to it that I connect with my people. Yet still I feel that they, my subordinates, distance themselves from me because of my status. To much respect, I think is not so healthy. They feel aloof and insecure in asking me of something that pertains to work, and even with those not related to work anymore. They seldom invite me out and they avoid to approach me because they feel ashamed of something. I cannot fully understand such attitude. I checked if it is just me but I noticed that they feel the same with other managers as well. As a result, the managers stick together and the rank & file go out on their own.
With these, I may say that people who are in the lower status also have prejudices towards higher positions.
Do you have any opinion about this?

Yes. The battle against insecurity and low self esteem is common to many. Maybe,I'll capitalize on it.
I'll write articles about it and how to battle it.
If you have additional inputs, please feel free to suggest. I'll acknowledge you if I use it in my material.
Have a nice day.
