Do you want to get your request for a team building activity got approved?

I just had a talk with my training officer this morning and I learned a lot specifically with regards to training. The reason why most Team Building activities doesn't got approved is because the term "team building" is already obsolete. It usually entails a company outing, where employees dread the workshops and would rather go out swimming or singing on the videoke. This is the very reason why it is very difficult to get approval for budget for said activity. Now, if you really want to have it approved, come out with a better program that would give it value. What you need to do is to determine the goal or objective for the said activity. For instance, alignment of employees with the corporate mission-vision, then follow it with brainstorming or leveling activity, then strategic planning. Another, call the activity with another title and not team building. What do you think should it be called? Will relation-building activity would work? Can you suggest any?
