Former England coach and Zimbabwe captain has been named new Team India coach to replace out going Garry Kirsten Of South Africa. Zimbabwe born, 62 years old Duncan Fletcher is considered instrumental in turning around English team which was in dire state when he took the control of the team in '99. He was the coach for the team for 8 years. It is during his tenure that England defeated Australia in Ashes series of '05. He also captained Zimbabwe team and was in the side which defeated Australia in '83 world cup. This appointment will end weeks of speculation as to who will replace Garry Kirsten as India coach. Duncan Fletcher's rich experience as a cricket coach of English National side will definitely help team India. Your views on this please.

I have really mixed feelings about this appointment. First off all Duncan Fletcher was good with a mediocre English team and was instrumental in turning things around. But he was not good enough to take them to the next level after that. The current Indian team is on a high and is playing at a level higher than what Duncan is used to handle. So I am not sure whether he is the best choice for the job.
Cheers!

I think Duncan Fletcher was the former England coach and Former Zimbabwe captain and I feel he could be the best replacement because he has already coaching experience in coaching England.I feel that he would continue as a brilliant coach like Gary and who knows he could be more better than Gary let's hope the best.

I woul be more happier if Andy Flower got the job. But ECB didn't want to loose him as he did a nice job for them. Whatever I hope this DUncan Fletcher will also do good job. Actually we didn't realise that Gary Kirsten can take the success to such a height when he was appointed as the coach of Indian cricket team. So it is better npt to comment earlier. We need to see his performance. But one thing is sure that a coach like Greg Chappel who wants to do whatever he likes, wants to apply things according to his wish whether its suitable for the players or not and not to just correct the errors and problems of the players. What Gary did must be a difficult to achieve or even go closer to his achievements. But his methods can be followed i.e continue in order to carry the momentum and gather more successes
