Why the plasma tv used to be so slim?

The advanced technology made the plasma tvs so slim. Tubes are required for a television for producidng the pictures where as Plasma televisions does not require tubes in order to project the picture. Moreover, it occupies less space than traditional tv also. Thanks to the technology.

Actually, plasma tv's do have tubes! Furthermore, they aren't very thin at all! What you are probably referring to are LCD or LED types. The LCD ones are like a tube in the sense that they are made of glass, although they have no vacuum. LED tvs and monitors often still have glass in their construction but could be made of plastic. Is it a case of manufacturers wanting you to break it? A television could be made indestructible but who would ever buy a second one?
