why can't some people wash their hands after using the public restroom?

I've seen this happen so many times than once! Why not just take 30 seconds to wash your hands after using the restroom? So I was at school one day using the restroom. I went to wash my hands, and out comes this girl and she went straight out the door without even touching the soap and water! I can remember another instance while I was at work, I got to the sink to wash my hands, and out comes this girl, she looked like she wanted to walk straight out the door until I have her this disgusting look which made her turn around and she washed her hands lol. It should not take all of that! If you have experiences like this do share! If you really think about it, washing your hands is the number prevention of germs! It can prevent you for getting sick. All you have to do is take 30 seconds, thats all!

It is only sanitary and common sense to wash your hands after using publc facilities. i don't see why everyone can't see the nenefit of this for anyone.

I know right, I don't get why people can't wash their hands either! It's quick & easy and they are making germs spread by not washing their hands. If they don't have the time to wash their hands, I hope they're using hand sanitizers!

Exactly, they need to use something that will kill the germs. It does spread germs, but by just washing your hands you can also prevent germs. I think if people really though about the nastyness of not washing their hands, they will learn to do so! Its just that easy!

I think it's laziness, to be honest. But then again, people are gross in general.

I can not speak for everyone, but I know some people who do not like washing their hands in some bathrooms because they feel like the sink and everything is more dirty than their hands. A lot of bathrooms don't have paper towels. But those who have said that made it seem like that only applies when it's number one.

In my opinion that doesn't justify not washing your hands. Do that person know the kind of feces they have on their hands after using the restroom? Its not something you can just get away with, go have a burger and eating with those sames hand you just wiped your butt with. Thats nasty. Excuse my language.

I guess you don't know the bathroom code. I didn't say when they wiped their butt. I said in the cases that they go number one, which is pee.

Unless you are referring to men, women have to wipe their butt just doing a number one. Either way, this is still not an excuse for me. It sounds as if you're ok with this, but as for me I have a different opinion.

Yes there are some people that are not washing their hands after public rest rooms. We know that rest rooms especially at public are often on germs. It is the dirtiest place where most of the bacteria are exposed. So we need to wash hands and use sanitizer. I always do that coz every time we touch things there are always bacteria. Be this thing our hobby from time to time.

I just get start wearing black gloves everywhere lol. Thinking about everything, anything could have germs on it. Its better to protect ourselves by washing your hand and as you said using a hand sanitizer.

I work with younger kids and sometimes they don't wash their hands no matter how much you remind them to do so because it's nasty if they don't. Ugh.

That's exactly what I do too! But at work, I'm not allowed to touch the kids, so I can't actually turn them around. I can only tell them to do so and hope they do. Stupid liability rules. If it was my own son or daughter, I'd do exactly what you said. Back into the bathroom they go.

Great to hear, you are one of the good citizens trying to teach young kids to become better citizens. haha way to go! Send them back to the restroom. I need to hear the water running and see results.

You have to tell kids about washing their hands regularly I know. They also learn from what they see. I remember my little cousin his is about 7 went to use the restroom. When he got out, I asked him "did you wash your hand" he said "yes" I said "oh really, because I didn't hear the water running" I turned him back around and watched him wash his hands. They just have to learn.

I'm not completely sure I understand. You are saying if you wash your hand, it will only get contaminated?

I remember a guy classmate in college. We are all waiting for him since our common friends decided to eat lunch together. After class, he told us to wait in the lobby since there was a restroom nearby. After he was done, we all noticed he didn't wash his hands and we all have been staring at each other. Feeling eewie. It kind of disappoints me sometimes when people, after using the restroom, won't just give their selves like less than a minute or two just to wash their hands. It's for their own good anyway. Good discussion, Keshia.

Thanks totallyundecided! Your're right, not only is it for the good of themselves, but for other people involved. What if he touched something, then somebody else comes along and touch the same thing! Spreading germs, thats how people get sick and catch a cold. Wash your hand it only take 30 seconds. Next time I see this, I might not be so nice lol. Thanks for sharing!

Sometimes I go into the bathroom to change or maybe I don't even go to the bathroom but I am in a stall. When I come out I don't wash my hands because I didn't actually use the toilet. Maybe some other people do that also and when they leave they don't wash their hands because they don't need it. It may appear that they are nasty but in reality it might not even be the case.

Thats not the case of the two examples I described in my discussion thought. I do know what you mean. I sometimes go in the restroom just to blow my nose. I come out, but I still wash my hands. Even when changing clothes, I still wash my hand. Think about whats on the door handle when you touch it. Somebody came in before you, use the restroom and touch that same door handle you use to open the door with. Germs, you just got infected with germs. Think outside the box.

People don't do it because they are in a hurry. They don't think it is necessary. Some people just don't care! I know people who were never taught to do it. Then their are people who are clueless and have no idea it is unsanitary and spread gems. That is why some people don't wash their hands!
• United States

This doesn't give anybody an excuse. People learn from example right? Being in a rush doesn't mean you can go spreading germs! Just because a particular person doesn't care about their health doesn't mean other people could care less about their health either11 Its unsanitary and if people don't know the prevention of washing your hands thats just sad!

This is the reason why I never shake peoples hands. I hate to say it but how many men really wash their hands after going pee? Not many, and we know where their hands have been. So no way am I shaking anyone's hand. In fact I had a man sell me a vacuum the other day and he wanted to shake my hand, I told him I don't believe in shaking hands. I hate to say it but people always give me a strange look when ever I tell them that, but I don't want to touch anyone's hands, you never know what they have been touching.

Agree, and you really opened my eyes to shaking hands as well. If I do find myself in this situation and I end up shaking somebody's hand, I will just go wash them afterwards. You really made me think about shaking peoples hands twice, really! So thanks for that, and you're right. Not a lot of men wash their hands, women as well.

AS you said washing hands after using using restroom is not only for one man's safety, it also prevents others not to infect germs from his hands, because viruses like h1n1, h1n2 , etc., all spreads out like that only

Exactly when the formally know "swine flu" now termed H1N1 came out about 2 years ago, was it? A lot of people got infected. Meanwhile I was washing my hands on the regular like I had OCD, that wasn't nothing to play with. Thank for sharing!

For some people, 'accomplishing all the work they have to do in that day' seems more important than 'accomplishing as much as you can while protecting everyone's sanity'

I don't wash my hands after using the restroom too, that's coz I always have my hand sanitizer with me. Maybe the girl who walked straight out had her sanitizer with her too.

I highly doubt that, and washing your hand is a better prevention of germs that just using a hand sanitizer. But to each its own I guess.

like you, i've seen a lot of people not washing their hands after going to the restroom.. you are right, why is it seems so hard for them to disinfect their hands and it just takes a couple of seconds but it can actually save us from a lot of things (bacteria, viruses)..
• United States
30 Apr 11
Exactly, like I said washing your hand can prevent the spread of germs and bacteria and much more. Its so easy, only take 30 seconds at the most. Its pretty much dummy proof, but some dummies still don't do it lol. BTW really cute profile pic!

At my work we have a sign on the ladies bathroom door saying "ATTENTION REMEMBER TO WASH YOUR HANDS" Apparently nobody there has enough common sense to wash their hands, and the issue was brought up to a management meeting.. We also have signs on the outside and inside of every single bathroom stall..

We have these same signs at my job, but the things I've seen at fast food jobs. Makes me think twice about eating there, this is where praying over your food comes in.

Ohhhhhhhh really this is true if yes then how the people is dirty no washing hands after using restroom. I wash 3 times by soap when after using restroom. This is a rule of our house to wash hand 3 times by soap give water on hand 3 times.

Great rule you have there, at least you are teaching you houshold the right thing to do. Some people just don't wash their hands, I'm guessing because they was not taught to do so. If they knew about the germs and all it carries they would quickly wash their hands.
