I love yard sales, estate sales, thrift stores, etc etc. I have never met a garage sale that I did not like. I always try to buy at least one item from every garage sale and sometimes I outdo myself. Like most people, I have too much stuff that I really do not need. This morning I am going to a Baptist Church close by that is having their yearly rummage sale. They always have hordes of stuff and I always get some great things. My favorite items are always grab bags. I love grab bags, especially of costume jewelry. I have taken money out of my ATM and wondering what treasures I will find today. The money also goes to a good cause. The Youth Organization puts on the yearly rummage sale and monies raised goes to the group and their projects.

I, too, am a fan of garage sale and such. You can find so many great items for cheap! Of course, I also like freecycle.com, as people can list things they just want to get rid of, and my favorite price to pay is $free! Lol. We have a lot of thrift shops in my area, and a couple of places that are sort of little buroughs (though we aren't a big area) do annual garage sales where everyone in that area can have it on one day and it generates a lot of people.

Unfortunately, the Church sale was not very good. I think that donations are down. But on my way home, I stopped at two other yard sales and got some good stuff that I actually needed. But then I also bought some stuff that I do not need. I live in senior citizen housing. And our current manager will not allow us to have a community wide sale even though previous managers have in the past. Some have even helped residents with the sale.

I think that a community sale would be an excellent option for where you live, and I don't understand why the current manager wouldn't allow it. It's a great way to get rid of some things the residents didn't need or want. Have you ever used Craigslist.org? They list free things, things for sale, just about everything. I got rid of an old treadmill I didn't want and was able to pick up some things I did need.
