I an currently fixing all the things brought home from my office as you all know that i have resigned from my work and that my boss have given of a Starbucks tumbler. I had a total of 4. Starbucks of different types and well i admit i never read the label inside. It is just now as well that i have read not to use carbonated drinks with it. But i have used it with that! Well, if i do, anyway i do not close the lid i make sure the mug has some room to breathe.
So why do they warn not to do so? Is it due to the pressure build us of the carbon drinks that when closed might explode? Or there are other reasons? Would you know?

Its probably like all "non spill" cup. When the pressure from the carbonation build up, they leak by pushing the safety latch open. It would be like putting soda in a child leak proof sippy cup.
