In yet another sign of the fall of the public sector union house of cards, Wisconsin's biggest Teachers union is on the ropes. They have announced that they might have to layoff workers and they have completely cancelled their annual convention. In other words, when the teachers need their union most, the leaders are cutting and running. Shouldn't they be using the convention as a springboard for bigger and better things? Apparently they have no words of encouragement, or care to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. They are all about the members getting out, spending money, taking time out of their schedule, even breaking laws to further the cause... but the leaders themselves aren't even willing to hold a simple convention. Stick a fork in the Wisconsin Education Association Council (WEAC)... they are done. Make no mistake, it isn't because of what Gov. Walker is doing. There are plenty of other unions and organizations willing to continue the fight. This is entirely the decision of the cowards in charge of WEAC. http://wispolitics.com/index.iml?Article=235078

They ran out of ways to cower behind kids. (the union leaders, not necessarily the teachers).

Unions have been losing for a long time. They lost out on membership in the private sector years ago and now they are losing their stranglehold on the public sector as well. It can only be a good thing. As more states start to reduce the power of the public sector unions, they will soon find their funding is not sufficient to keep up supplying outside agitators for protests, lavish conventions or even the buying of politicians. It's all a step in the right direction towards more honesty in politics.

I wonder if the Democrats on the east coast deserting them have anything to do with this? http://articles.boston.com/2011-04-27/news/29479557_1_unions-object-labor-unions-health-care and believe it or not, this is not the first time its happened. http://www.nytimes.com/learning/general/onthisday/big/0623.html
