My teacher is making me do the STAR test, literally! I am refusing to take the test since I have read online that by law you can opt out of this test. I was wondering if the same thing works for honors and/or AP students? Please provide an official and legal source saying that I don't have to take this test! Thank You!

I am wondering why you don't want to take the test? I mean, it's purpose is to measure the true ability of the student and comparing it with what is standard all over the country. You see, I think this is important. Let me tell you why. I have a cousin who studied in the province and got about 21 medals and honors because he was the top in his class in his area. Then he transferred to our city and studied here and to tell you honestly, he was depressed in the end. He didn't get any honors, wasn't able to adjust to the crowd and city life, and thought he was stupid. The test will keep the standard of schools at par with the whole country. Avoiding kids from thinking that they're doing great when in fact it was just because the school was tolerant with the students. You need to take the test and be humble enough to accept that you might not be as great as you think you are. You need to, not because of the school but because you'd be surprised that you are just average.
