I am a chinese, I appreciate you like China. Chinese actually include two kind of languages, one is Madarin and the other is cantonese. Cantonese usually used in Guangdong province and HONGKONG, and the other part of China almost used Madarin. Of course, Madarin is the official language, so learning the Madarin is enough.

China is a big country which has long history and different cultures. Dalian is in the south of Northeast region of China, which is a beautiful coastal city. I've been there seven years ago and have a good impression. If you really interested in the Chinese culture, learning Mandarin is quite necessary for language is a key to open the door of culture. But I still wanna remind you that Mandarin is not easy to learn for it is totally different from Western languages.
