what is affiliate marketing?

Guys can you please help me on this? I already have clickbank account but that was two years ago, I've been busy on the outside world but now I want to focus in the cyberworld and earn money online.
I just want to prove that you can earn big bucks online, and one of the trends that I've read that one of the quickest way to make money online is trough affiliate marketing.
If you're familiar with this can you please brief me and give tips about this?

There are many legitimate and very successful internet marketing guru that had made name in the affiliate marketing business model. People like, Ewen Chia, Chris Farrell, George Brown, Mark Ling, and a lot more basically. You can check or do some research on their profile and accomplishments. Don't be deceive by the fact that affiliate marketing is one of the quickest way to earn online, it actually takes time and a lot of hard work -- keyword research, SEO, backlink, content, list building, traffic generation, etc.. so before you try out affiliate marketing, do some research study first, study the business model and have a mentor who can coach you and guide you well. Affiliate marketing can be a very rewarding and long-term business that can give you passive income if you put in a lot of hard work and patience.
