public display of affection..

Nowadays, we can see that almost couples show their affection in public. What can you say about it? For me, sometimes it's okay to do that act in a proper place.., because sometimes children saw it and I think it is not a good example for children seeing peole kissing, hugging, etc in front of many people.

Depends on the act. I like to show affection to my wife anywhere, but I also know what is appropriate and where. For example, we hold hands if we're in my daughter's school, and I might give her a light kiss on the lips. But that's it. If there are a lot of people around, we usually tone it down. But like when we depart from lunch and we're standing in the parking lot where she works, I'm definitely all for giving her some heavier kissing. There is a time and a place for everything, but if I can get away with more, I definitely am going to.

"..but if I can get away with more, I definitely am going to.." I don't have a daughter, but we have the same style, man! Hahaha! Cheers..

Yeah you're right, a proper time and place. There's nothing wrong in holding hands as well as giving a goodbye kiss. thanks.

I think showing affection is fine, and especially hugging. That's hardly a bad example to set to children, as hugging can be between friends as well as lovers. Kissing is ok if kept short and to a minimum, making out should be for behind closed doors but if a child grew up and never saw their mum even peck their dad on the cheek in public it would be a bit odd.

I totally agree with you, Leigh. There must exist some level of PDA in our surroundings. Taking into consideration the appropriateness of the situation, I think showing affection in public is acceptable.

I am also fine with pda but they have to tone it down sometimes when there are lots of people around, especially children.. But sme people may be offended by it so they should also consider not doing it at all.

Well I think it's ok if they do it to the limit. But yeah there are some people who crosses the limit, that really annoys me

I know it is none of my business but I really do not feel comfortable seeing them because doing that in public places is really not the right place they can do that when they are alone. Maybe they just can't control their feelings that's why I understand them

I believe that it is fine to show affection in public as long as it is not excessive.

It's nice to see couples having some good moments but should be in the right place. Like in the park where kids are around,i don't think it is proper for small kids to see couples kissing each other. Holding hands will do..not more than when there are kids around. have a great day

Hi,there! Well,it's a little uncommon to see this kind of scenes here in China.Many people are still very traditional.Yet the young generation are more open-minded and they sometimes show affection in the public.Some people would smile while they see it.Some traditional ones would even condemn. I'm really okay with this kind of display.Yet I may not do it while there are kids around,since Chinese couples usually don't kiss in front of their kids unlike western couples do. Have a good night!

I agree because there are some moments when a person is supposed to behave professionally or show respect to others, like in a business meeting or something. But if it is already established that people can do what they want, I think it's okay to show public displays of affection. At a festival, concert, or party I think it's okay to do that, as long as it is innocent kissing and hugging. But like you said, if there are children watching there shouldn't be too much intimacy.

I don't mind couples showing affection in public. For children, what exactly is wrong when they see people kissing and hugging? Last time I checked kissing and hugging isn't anything immoral.
