Do you think a drunk driver should be solely responsible if they get into a car and drive drunk after being at a bar or do you think the bartender should bear some responsibility, too?

The bartender should not be responsible for other people's actions. His job is to serve drinks not to watch somebody like a hawk to make sure they don't go out and drive. The one that was stupid enough to believe they could drive while drunk, should be held responsible not the business owner, not the one that throws the party, just the drunk driver.

I agree with you. I will never understand why, after all the accidents and deaths that have been caused by drunk drivers, people still drive after drinking! It is about personal responsibility.

Driver only. Otherwise we'll all have to start employing nannies to accompany us and watch our every move. Individuals are responsible for their own actions: no one else is to blame. The Nuremberg defense won't work.

I actually used to be a bartender years ago and we were supposed to be responsible. There are laws that bartenders are supposed to follow..that's not to say they all do...or that there is a way to always know...but a bartender is supposed to cut a drinker off after a certain amount or if they act in a certain manner. If they come in already intoxicated, they are supposed to refuse service. There are laws here that can hold bartenders accountable too.

We really can't blame the server of the drink. it is up to the drinker to consume the beverage or not. the drinker has to take the responsibility for his own actions and suffer the conseuences as well.

Hi there! There's no one to be blame but the driver itself.. Being responsible to your self is not seen from others or others is not the one responsible to you. Once you will drink and having a car with you, always think not be drunk because you might fall into an accident. Driving while drunk is really prohibited.

I believe that the drunk driver should be held solely responsible for his or her actions. Persons need to act responsibly so that they do not endanger the lives of others.

If a person wants to do something, there is probably no stopping them. A bartender should not have to risk getting in a fight with some dumb drunk person just because they are an idiot and are trying to do irresponsible things that they know are against the law. It is the individual's responsibility. Also, there are a lot of people in a bar and how is person supposed to keep track of all of them? Should they walk out and watch to see if the person gets behind the wheel? That makes no sense to me.

No, a bartender or host of a party is not a babysitter and therefore should not be held responsible when someone decides to drive while drunk. Of course a bartender who happens to notice a patron who's obviously had enough to drink, should cut the person off, which they very often do and suggest they take a cab or,ask a family member or friend to drive them home, but, it's the person themselves who is responsible if they ignore the warnings.

On the first place, it was the driver's wish to drink. So why blame the bartender , when his only concern is to be able to serve all his customers. In the long run, he don't even know if the customer is a driver.

I don't think the bar tender has any responsibility;after all,the drunk driver is an adult so he's fully aware of the consequences of his action, and a bar tender's job is to serve drinks to his customers, not to be a psychologist and he has no obligation to see what the drunk customer does after leaving the bar.
