A rose is a rose is a rose

I know this is a quote from someone, but am not sure whom. This discussion will be bothersome to many, but between thinking people surely must be asked. What does it say about us as a Country, USA when we send a team of assassins to invade another country to kill a person whom we have tried and covicted without a public hearing and when this action is completed, celebrate throughout our nation? Have we made no progress toward our proclaimed goal as a Christian country, you know what I mean, "one Country Under God". Am I the only one shamed by this action? All I know is what has be shouted in the Press for ten years, there is another side of this story, we have not heard. We claim this man was responsible for bood all over the world, yet there is little word of the blood we have let in our crazed need for revenge. Many say this is closure, will any forget who watched the attack on 9/11? No matter what he and his organization has done in their quest. It will not come close to the blood we shed in Iran and Afganistan. At one time I heard the Press slip and state that over 500,000 civilians were wounded and killed in Iran, was this right? or was it even close? I know this is a rant, but I am sick and tired of hearing how heroic our actions have been in our search for revenge. I love my country and the many good things it does around the world but I am not stupid enough to overlook the damage or the special intersts that profit from our less than glorious actions. I'm sure you will let me know your thoughts.

I totally understand what you are saying. However, being a survivor of 9/11 and losing many friends and co-workers that day at the World Trade Center, I don't agree with you. This monster has killed thousands of people in his lifetime and I believe he got what he deserved. If you heard the reports that he was thinking of attacking the railroads from New York, LA, and Chicago I think we did the right thing. I just don't think we should be bragging or jumping up and down in excitment. Just be grateful that there is a bit of closure for the families that have lost their loved ones.

We should consider that this man didn't cause harm only to the American people but to the whole world. He's a threat that needs to be eliminated without trial. Yes I'm a Christian too but I see no wrong in what the US President has done. The bloodshed that happened in Iraq and Afghanistan were not under the same presidency and I hated those incident because the former president had a personal motive. This time however it's a different story and there's a reason for a celebration.

If it were just revenge, I would agree with you, but it's also about stopping that organization's further attacks, finding out what they are up to, etc.

I hear what you are saying Savypat. When I heard this news....I sort of felt weird...because we are happy because we killed someone??? I am Canadian, but it seems I have the same views on this as you do.

the fact that Bin Laden was killed, that was a great fact many people will praise. and people will also praise those who killed him. but i just dont think entering Pakistan with no permission of the Pakistan government and making a bloody "war" in that place is not right. i dont know much about this topic, i really dont listen to the news, haha this is all that i can share. :)
