Hi Tammy Yes, wordpress is confusing to many on day one. But if you get a hang of it, trust me, it is the best platform available. It can also be turned into a full flegded website (follow the wordpress.org for it). For the free version at wordpress.com, you have too many things that you can use to not only optimize the blog but also a whole lot of templates to chose from. Though blogspot or blogger is popular it is so in the eastern world and the western world still considers wordpress as a benchmark. If you look on at the sites for works, you would find so many opportunities for wordpress... that indicates the repute and use of the wordpress. Oh yes, I work on the wordpress platform for my clients and can definitely say this as I have realized the potential that Wordpress can give.

This I think is the most appropriate answer for your question.Wordpress is much more flexible, powerful and most importantly simpler compared other platforms.

I hope I would be able to help. There is a difference between wordpress.org and wordpress.com. for wordpress.org you need to download and install your program in your own host. That would give you more control. you can check my site, it is make from wordpress.

In my opinion wordpress is a better platform than blogger. i say this because I used them both when I was learning about the web. On blogspot you can make a more fun website but the truth is that when I started working with wordpress I got more skilled in how to get people on my website. Wordpress is way more professional that blogger.
