What type of cinnamon works best to control blood sugar?

I have read several articles that speak of cinnamon being a natural remedy for diabetes. Apparently, cinnamon can help regulate the absorption of sugar and keep your blood sugar levels from spiking. Has anyone heard of this? Also, there are many types of cinnamon--do they all work the same, or are some types better than others?

I have used capsules from the health food store but I would suggest you be careful with these. If you do not drink enough water while drinking them they can become stuck or move too slowly and the cinnamon can burn the inner lining of the esophagus. They can also cause heartburn in those prone to it.

Then I will stick to regular cinnamon, I think. I never had heartburn until I had kids, but now I do get it from time to time. . .

All types of cinnamon work well. The best is to choose the one with the higher fiber content. More the fiber, better it is for a smooth and steady control. Beware of the dangers. Excess of cinnamon is toxic and can make a diabetic sicker. An inch of a finger width stick is good for the whole day. Chewing and swallowing instead of tea made with it is also better. Welcome to the wonderful cures of mother nature.

Thanks for the great tips.
I also know that using too much can bring on an allergic-type reaction. I try to sprinkle it on food and in coffee and such.

Thanks! I have seen that, but I think regular cinnamon works, too (and tastes better).
But maybe the capsules allow you to regulate the amount better, and so might be more effective.
