In internet age, no authoritarian can keep his own people from knowing the truth. The examples are Libya, Egypt and also I think China. But other countries should also take lessons from them. Am I wrong in my observation?

To an extent I would agree with you. There is a wealth of information on the internet for anyone who has the desire to know to find. There is also a lot of junk on the internet and there are many people who just don't know how to weed the good from the bad. In countries where they may not want their citizens to know that what they are doing is wrong? I don't think those people need the internet to tell them that their country's policies are wrong. Inside our hearts we have a moral compass if we choose to listen to it. Those that would research the information on the computer are most likely the ones that would know the truth in their hearts anyway. When you believe that a wrong thing is right you will defend this anyway you can. Just recently I demonstrated that to my boyfriend because he sometimes is convinced he is always right and things are so cut and dry. I chose for the sake of argument to argue for racism (now let me be perfectly clear that in reality I'm 100% against racism!) His jaw dropped when I was done... it's amazing how you can make almost any argument sound logical if you put the proper twist on it. And if somewhere in your belief system you think something wrong is right you can make it sound like a logical argument that it is right. The cycle then continues with the children of these people. It's sad really.
Then again... all it takes to make sure that a country does not read good information on the internet is to take away the internet. I don't condone it... but it would be pretty easy.

Whatever it may be but you have to admit that internet has opened the door for getting all the information you need and then you have to sort out the right information by your judgement and without any biasness.

Yes,didi, i entirely agree with you.I wonder how people can live in a manner that suffocates them and deprives them the freedom of speech, writing and so on.China is the biggest culprit in this regard and one day a time will come when the people will rise and rebel just as the students had done some years back and which was put down brutally by the government.China has a wide range of human rights violations especially in Tibet where they are trying to destroy the ancient culture of that country and to impose their Communist ideology on the people. There is a wave of change going on in the countries ruled by authotarian regimes and soner or later it will engulf the entire world bringing drastic changes that will bring a new order which will bring a new sense of freedom for the people of the world.

Certainly you are not wrong to think that way. I also think that the internet will also help in fighting agianst extremist and fundamentlaism beliefs everywhere like Islamic jihad and North Korea etc. The more people are exposed to outside world and true information, they will revolt. That is why North Korea during crisis of Eygpt, Lybia and others in the middle east and Africa imposed very strong laws on communication and stopped any other leaks that citizens may have to get to the events of the outside world. Internet and exposure to the mass media and is an empowerment and and education that improve human knowledge and development.

yes, with the advent of the internet and gadgets that come with it like the video phone etc.., it is becoming less and less easy to hide the truth because of the speed of communication, not only in government but also in many fields such as work, school and living conditions etc... Yor are correct with your observations
