may 11, 2011 actually marks the 30th anniversary of the death of reggae singer bob marley. to the millions and millions who have followed bob marley's life and music he is an icon and a legend. his music has transcended different cultures and generations and although known primarily as a reggae musician, bob marley's music reflects and influenced other musical genres. he wrote his own songs and played rhythm guitars and sang lead vocals. his greatest hits album 'legend', is both the highest selling reggae albumof all time and the highest selling album by a jamaican musician. though i love all hsi songs, i can say that my personal favorite is 'waiting in vain'. that song connects to me on a lot of different levels. can't imagine going through a whole day without listening to that song at least once. we are truly blessed to bear witness to the music and life of a legend such as bob marley!!! so any thoughts about bob marley's influence in your life my fellow mylotters... please post it here. cheers!!!

allen0187, He's indeed a reggae legacy and I still do get to hear his songs being aired over the radio or some inflight entertainment on my overseas trips. I believe some of his songs like Rivers of Babylon, No Woman No Cry, I Shot The Sheriff were further popularized by a Boney M, a German disco group and the prolific Eric Clapton during the 70's. All of which had been with me when I was entering my teenage years.
