I had an oppotunity to cook supper for myself when I came to see my girlfriend and she was away for some business. It was not hard to how to boil the eggs at first. But later, when I cooked something else,I forgot that I had put some salt into it and added some more.Whe she returned and tasted the meal, she asked me,"How much salt have you put into the meal? It's so salty!" Have you ever experienced such affairs in your life?

I honestly don't cook with much salt at all. I don't like the taste of too much salt. Unfortunately there is so much sodium in foods these days that so many things taste salty to me. That is why it's usually best if I cook my own meals so that I have more control over the sodium and that "salt" taste.

Yes...if you realise you've over-salted something, while it's still cooking, if you add a few pieces of peeled potato to the cooking pot and leave them cooking in your meal for about 20 minutes, then remove and discard them, they should have absorbed at least some of the excess salt, thus making your meal taste better. It only works though if you know you've put too much salt in something when you've still got at least 30 minutes of cooking time left. If it's realised later, then sadly it's a case of throwing away what you've cooked and opting for something else, or maybe going out and picking up a takeaway?
