The 5 senior members has been rested/injured and are not playing for INDIA. Sachin, MSD,Zaheer has been rested .I think its DUE TO IPL. If they havent played IPL ,they would have got some rest. And Viru could have gone for treatment earlier and might have ready now...... Is IPL more important than International match. Do the players wish more to play in IPL(MONEY) rather for the home nation. Surelly now we have back up for these players, also WI is not a strong team. But senior members are missing the tour due to IPL,Also BCCI wishes to have good growth for the IPL.

Ya,Money rules everything....... its the money making the IPL so much big, and even the players like gayle and pollard are ready to play here rather than playing for west indies. At present its not a big problem as we are having good back up and the opposition is not so strong, but IPL happens every year, and many good talented players will miss Indian team due to the IPL

The Sad Indian story continues. Money is the most important factor to our cricketers nowadays. Country comes a distant second. This is pathetic.

These guys think about IPL and doing commercials. They forget that they would not have been so famous had they not played for India. So money is not everything.

Well, its obvious that the players who are missing out on the squad for the West Indies tour were either playing continuous cricket or injured. Nehra and Sehwag are injured and they Sehwag is out of the IPL in the half way through while the latter didn't took part. Tendulkar is aging and he has every reason to ask rest for. And then Zaheer Khan is the only strike bowler for India and he has to be rested too... And about the players wanting to play IPL for money and then skipping the tour, well, we all will be doing the same thing if we were them... Money is everything in life and we would be lying if we say the opposite.

The players should play for nation. And some regulation should be made for the senior players to play in iPL. And if the players need rest ,why they played IPL?????,the answer is MONEY. If there was another money game like IPL in place of the WI tour, they should have played it also and will take rest after that. We can just look and comment like this......

Hi Ramaswamyvtkv, True IPL is one reason. And other reason is continuous matches, say World Cup and few weeks IPL and next the other one. I feel they all must need some rest to relax and stay up with family spending time. These continuous matches make them tired and sick as well. I wish decision is good for their powerful come back.

the team got 2or 3 days rest after WC. the BCCI should have scheduled the IPL after 2-3 weeks. now the players rester for International match.....

This was bound to happen.Viru was struggling throughout the WC wit his shoulder injury and it likely that he aggravated his injury by playing IPL instead of resting. Sachin has come to the stage where he will pick and choose his matches to prolong his career.Zahir has been unfit for a long time now and is playing because of the money that he may not make otherwise.Dhoni has been playing non stop for many a season now and he was bound to break down but he preferred to play the IPL rather than the WI for obvious reasons. Nehra has never been the fittest player and he has worked hard to get back to the Indian team only so that he can earn some big money. He too would like to take some rest after the IPL and if that means missing the WI tour so be it. Who is to blame? The BCCI of course.

Yes we can only blame BCCI and MONEY. Money is leading and attracting everyone. Sachin,Dhoni making crores and crores. They should have asked that they need rest (after WC),but no problem for them in playing 2month long IPL.

I only hope that the younger players utilize this opportunity to make thes injured players fight for their places in the Indian side. But both the players and BCCI are looking at the money in IPL. Gayle is playing to earn big money and so is Malinga but why is there such big money where half of the team consists of retired players and new comers. The gullible public is watching sub standard fare and the older players and novices are making some easy money at the cost of the foolish spectators. But for how long will this charade last? But the bigger danger is in the spectator turning away from this great game. It is the beginning of the end. That is how I look at it. Do you hear the alarm bells ringing??

I think that players should be given rest. For it's profit, BCCI keeps on organising tournaments without giving time for rest to the players. After world cup, players could hardly get time of 2 days then IPL started and before world cup new zealand, south africa, sri lanka series, and now what do they do if they don't take rest? I think BCCI must change it's schdules and players must be given some rest. Dhoni also keeps insisting on that and I think he is right. It is none of the mistakes of the players.

Sorry to say but when our grandkids reads the history of cricket, there will a before IPL and after IPL. to be simple, saying i play for the passion of the game before IPL is from heart but saying it now its nothing more than a punchline. you can blame the guys who made sure the cricketers got more money over the years when you can get more money for playing 15 3 hour matches ,why waste your time and energy playing a 9 hour matches and 5 day cricket matches? i wonder what actualy go through the mind of the cricketers. lets assume due to some stupid reason, the world cup was to be played on april 2nd and IPl 4 starts at feb 18,would the players missed the IPL? i bet my own life that they would have played IPL instead of being bone tired and call IPL as a good preparation for world cup. no more use in ranting.people want money.cricket gives money for work.IPL gives even more money for lesser work.they play IPL,create city moment of sucesses, hit DLF maximums and take Karbonn kamal catches. end of a beautiful cricket era. great news coming. there will be srilankan IPL and bangladesh IPL tournaments soon if you dont count the JPL,KPL and all other T20 tournaments in India. seems only ICL had the right idea when it came to T20. it gave retired people and players who were not given chances a chance to play infront of a big crowd. too bad its gone

yes. IPL pays huge amounts. BCCI may not be paying this much. Of course we have to depend on these three or four people only for good game.

Everyone want money and BCCI also wants money so there is nothing to worry about its part our indian cricket so why should we worry, will win without them. Good luck for indian team.

Ya,now we will win as the opposition is weak and we have very good back up players. But it may not be the case after 2-3 years. There may not be good back up players. And out some good players injured. India will suffer then.

Hi, Most of the senior players are out of WI tour. As you said, Sachin, MSD & Zaheer have been rested & Nehra & Viru is out due to injuries. Praveen Kumar comes into team with Rohit Sharma, Badrinath & Parthiv Patel who performed well in the domestic circuits. As expected, selectors haven't picked up the players based on thir IPL performances. Gambir has been given the captaincy for One dayers against WI. Lets see how it goes for Gambir. I wish him all the best.
