Turning Poetry into Songs

May 15, 2011 12:26am CST
I love singing and I would love to be able to write my own songs. The only problem is that I have trouble coming up with songs and poetry. I sing in the shower like many people do. When im showering, I come up with great lyrics and often forget them when i get out. Can anyone please help me translate my creativity outside of the shower and give me advice on writing poetry and lyrics? Thank you :)

hahaha I was like that too, not in the shower but on my bed. When I start day dreaming I have this allot of ideas. My tips for you is write it fast before you forget it. I tried to think good poems then type it on my cellphone then the next step I put it on my blog. For you on the shower try to have pen and paper on your bathroom or maybe a writing board, ofcourse paper get wet soon.

Writing poetry has been one of my passions. For me, a song is a poetry and a poetry is a song too. It takes a lot of imagination and emotion to write both a song and a poem. You need to lavish it with poetic words and it must sound very very romantic or full of intense emotion. Writing a poem I say is one magical piece of art.I wish you know that feeling when suddenly you have to urge to get your ballpen cause this amazing words are playing in your mind and you got to put them in writing before you lose them in oblivion. Lots of people get inspired in the bathroom! I think this is because we have peace and quiet and because we can just relax and think. Why not buy an inexpensive recorder and turn it on in the bathroom when you are showering? Then you can just play it back and write down what you sang. Good luck!
