Anime over friends

Were there instances in your life where you chose anything anime related (be it an anime show or convention) over your friends? And if you can rememeber what anime related thing it was please specify. :) In my case, Yes I have, not just once but many times. I'm pretty lucky that until now they haven't decided to leave me alone.:) I'll only give one instance. While I was still in high school, it was Saturday and I planned on watching Golden Boy and Tsukihime the whole day. While I was already somewhere in the middle of the episode, phone rang. My friends called because a friend of mine invited us in his birthday celebration. So it was pretty clear which I chose. T_T Now that I think of it now, that was a pretty pathetic thing I did. Even my excuse was pretty pathetic. I just said I had constipation and couldn't leave the house. :)

When I was a kid, I was like you too. I prefer staying at home to watch anime to going out. However, my mom will drag me out. As for now, with the internet, I can watch my favorite anime any time so that's no longer an issue. However, there are times when I still prefer to stay at home chill and watch anime. Going out, especially on weekends, is a drag.

I haven't done it recently but back in the days during my anime craze phase I'd stand up my friends to watch anime all the time. One particular incident I remember was from some years back. It was the weekend and I didn't have to work so I decided to do a Prince of Tennis marathon. I just ordered the whole series and was waiting for it to come in. My friends called me up and asked if I wanted to hang out with them by going shopping and watching a movie afterwards. Instead of agreeing I told them that I was going to be very busy (which wasn't the case at all). I then spent the entire weekend watching my Prince of Tennis. The really cool thing was that they weren't even mad at me when they found out that I stood them up since they were quite used to my anime obsession.

I prefer to watch anime instead of hanging with friends because when I am watching anime I am relaxed and do not have to be put in social situations. That's what makes it's all worth the while. I know it may sound bad, but I guess that's just how I am. I am not really one to hang with people when I can be relaxing at home watching anime. It's one of my favorite things to do in the world. I do love my friends it's just that I see them pretty much everyday in school and I am tired after that and I need my me time or I would probably go crazy.

I remember a time that I got home before everybody else because I left after our last class and I did not wait for them... Reason: I don't wanna miss an episode of Gundam Wing... I was ten...

yes..it happened during the Ghostfighter mania back in 1998,and I too had to be absent in a game for a Basketball league that I've joined and they were just wondering why I am always out of the picture when it is 5pm. lol

That is the one thing I like about the main group of friends I hang out with, anime is so integrated it is easy to not give up anything cause we all get into it. though on the flip side I have done this while in college because it is different from the group of friends at home where it is integrated. I don't remember the specifics but always choose to watch a new episode over something else that is suggested.

I can't remember any time I chose anime over a specific person/group, but I do choose watching anime or reading manga and similar things over socializing with people. My friends aren't really aware of this. They just think I'm a loner and a home buddy. Not that they're wrong. -.-' I prefer to do things at my own time and pace, and unfortunately, that includes making friends.

I often chose anime over hangin' out with my friends! I couldn't help it! I remember, at 2p.m. i was home watching not just any cartoon, i was watching "Dragon Ball"! It was the best anime show ever
