Can anyone tell me what the purpose of mosquitos, flies just bugs in general? Other than annoying the heck out of us what is their true purpose I mean could the world really live without mosquitos I know I can.

Mosquitoes may be putting the same question -- " Can we live without humans. they are bothering us". This question is relevant. Mosquitoes thrive in places which is conducive for their growth. They are all balancing the environment. In the world every living being has its place. However we have to take preventive steps to be not affected by them.

Very good point I agree. Do you think that there is anything on the world that doesn't have a purpose? I just don't get Mosquitoes though like once they bite and drink blood they die. Why would someone/thing want to do such a thing. But as you said we all have our purpose :)

I´m sure you know the good part of bothersome bugs. I answered in another post that I´m being pestered by snails in my organic veggie garden. I will not put any chemical snail killer but I´m thinking of going to catch them by night with a flashlight, put them in a secluded place so they can eat clean lettuce (the ones I don´t want) and then I can eat them myself. Such is life!

Mosquitos are dangerous to man and snails aren´t. Sometimes nature balance takes its toll on us too. We are not the only predators although we are the worst.

Snails I don't find half as bad as mosquitoes but I would probably freak out if I was infested by them. I get the creeps just thinking about them. Well whatever you do hopefully there is a win win solution for you n the snails.

All I know is they balance the flow of nature. Mosquitoes, flies, and others of the like are snacks for spiders and everything pretty much is blah after that.

Its all about the food chain I guess... I just wish they were made not to bite people. I also wonder why they are so gross looking. But I guess thats just to me because there are some people out there that really like insects.

Every creature on earth has a purpose for its existence although on the face of it, it looks bizarre. If one looks deeply into it there is cruelty galore. The less we think the better it will be for us to remain sane.

Thats quite the interesting phrase In like it. They are so creepy I find. I also find it quite funny that something soooo small can scare me. I try to coach myself each time I encounter one.

All of them are important to maintain Ecological balance. Read about it. They are not just annoyance. All you need is to accept their existence.

some insects serve useful purposes. not just to us, but the world in general. like bees that pollinate huge amounts of plants. for me, whenever insects are annoying me, I remember that without them, bats would have nothing to eat. a tiny pippistrelle can eat 3,000 midges in a night. so every 3.000 midges is a night more life for a wonderful, beautiful and fascinating creature that makes me happy when I watch them. as well as bats, insects feed lots of birds too. so while insects are a bit annoying, without them we would lose a lot of our beautiful and wonderful wildlife.

Thats a wonderful way of looking at it I try to think about it that way. They really creep me out sometimes I dont mind them being outside but when they are in the house or flying near me that is when I want them to disappear. I did a little bit of research towards mosquitos and found that they feed fish/frogs the eggs feed the fish..... I just wish they would eat them a little bit more
