Unemployed???

Well, all seemed to be going ok...as planned actually. Until October of last year, that is. I was called into my boss's office and handed a letter of termination, told to pack my things, and go home. I was unemployed. This isn't the first time something like this has happened, but really, what was I supposed to go home and tell my family? There were a lot of tears and questions, and, finally, we settled down and started thinking of a plan. We signed up for unemployment compensation, which is normally not given for people if they're fired or terminated, but we signed up anyway. Thankfully, my company refused to reply to my filing unemployment, and the state decided in my favor anyway! After a few months, when the company realized that they were still paying me, they filed an appeal to the federal judge. I was crushed, thinking that my only small income was going to disappear. Fortunately, I had a good judge listen to my appeal, and they lied and embellished the truth to the judge (stupid idea!!!) and the judge called them out and again ruled in my favor! Even though I was receiving my unemployment compensation, life is still hard...continually looking for jobs and income... It seems that no matter what I apply for, I never hear much back and have yet to receive a job offer...seven months later! How long has it taken you to find a job once you were laid off or fired???

i know what you mean! my hubby has been let go from several jobs (due to downsizing) and the last time he was off, he was off for 9 long months (he did get unemployment and i work 3 mornings per week) but our saving grace was we didnt have to pay our mortgage (we had mortgage insurance) it was tough but not impossible. hang in there, it will happen. my hubby finally got a job last june and has been there almost a year. he actually got it through someone he knew very casually, so tell EVERYONE you are looking!

Hello Chaotic, I've been unemployed since 2007,and it's been really sad during the earlier years. but with this newly constructed commercial building with renters are now in place. i think my sacrifice for not looking for a job and instead take care of my mom has finally been paid off.I might even consider having my own small business one day. Life is hard indeed but we are lucky not roaming around the streets

I am very sorry to hear that you have lost your job. In a recession many people become unemployed which is a shame. I hope that you will soon find a job that suits you. From age 16 to 18 years old I did a course on shipping and transport. When that ended I went to Finland to work as a children's nanny. I came home and got a job in a ship brokers as a container marketing controller. Sadly two years later I got made redundant and it was way too challenging to find another job. I felt desperate to find and job and pay the bills because I owned my cottage. I had bought it at 19 years old. I decided to let out my cottage and get a working holiday visa for Australia. I bought an around the world ticket and off I went. More than a year later I came back home. I decided to study to become a primary school teacher and that took me years. My first teaching job began when my course ended.

I'm glad you're still recieving something as you wait. Just don't lose hope. while waiting make your time worth while. As you wait too, you can also make money. Discover your talents or abilities and seel it. make your own money or what we call business. When I was in the unemploymeny stage, i am my own boss. I like to make some handicrafts. I sold them. But i enjoyed making the earrings best. I do it myself and sell them in bazzars with my best friend who finds time even though she is busy and super employed. The support from her was always there. Find your own talents too, maybe you could earn from it. Never stop. You can visit my blogs for some of my earrings sample. Go! Go! Go!

Having no job is an @ss, right? The longest I was unemployed was 6 months. I had no professional job so I had to settle with unprofessional ones. A friend owns a mini-bar that allows acoustic on-stage performances so I took my chances there. After about 2 and a half months, I went back to job hunting and luckily found one, which served as my stepping stone. What's annoying in a lot of industries nowadays is they require experience, well most of them at least. My point is, what about those that has none? How are they going to be successful if the companies aren't going to give them a chance?

I was laid off in November 2009. I found a job in February 2010 but I to discontinue because of a health problem. June 2010, I found a new job but I had to resigned after two months because I have a very inconsiderate and selfish boss. It added too much stress on my health. But now, I am already three months on my new job (started on March). I have to share this to you because I was desperate at that time (late 2009 to 2010) - I had no money, had bad health, had no career. I was depressed that I thought of getting my life. But I was thankful that I didn't entertain the thoughts otherwise, I am not enjoying that perks that I have right now. I am sorry if my answer is too long, I just have the urge to share with this because regardless of our culture when it comes to life experiences, we have somehow undergo the same situation. I really hope that you'll find a job for you. Please be optimistic. Your predicament will pass soon.

Well I'm still finding job almost 3 years, for my luck I'm single without any kid, but I need to cover my first needs and some other little things. Always are good persons around to us. My case is special, some bad people told why some people says that I'm a good employee, I answered, because they see that I'm good employee but they said that I'm not a good employee without show the evidence. Some professionals participate in this kind of bad tricks. Don't worry, the bad persons always are exposed and rejected. keep making the right things.
