Recycling lots of odd things

As a concerned human who is passionate about saving our fabulous 'Jewel', I try to recycle or find novel uses for discards when I can. I have a worm-bin that all my kitchen waste goes into. The the little wrigglers produce not only rich compost but a wonderful liquid fertiliser to put on the garden. My large WB is insulated by an old bamboo-blind which was past its best. I even leave old leather boots and shoes in the garden for insect-homes, in addition to having a compost heap. Old handbags make great hanging planters, and in my last garden there was one and half old bathroom suites hidden in the undergrowth that did the same sort of job, and two sets of metal bedsprings that acted as support for some large climbers. I re-use the plastic bags inside cereal-packets as sandwich-bags. I had to move into a smaller house a few years ago and am using my old large rubbish-bins as rain-barrels in the garden. If I can find a new use for something to stop it ended up in the landfill sites, I do! Any others tips and suggestions ?

yes we also recycle alot around my house all our old kitchen appliances make their way into the garden at the end of their life their is kettles and electric frying pans growing herbs as we speak. We also have chickens and a dog which takes care of most of our household vegtable and meat scraps. We reuse packaging where we can as i send alot of items via ebay, i reuse the packaging that is supplied with the products we buy all the time, there is so much waste in todays packaging. we have some old cable reels that have been turned into back=boards for some stunning stag horns in our fern house.

I keep small jars of coffee, decaf and caf in my kitchen where they are easy to reach, but I buy large jars at COSTCO and store in a dark place, then small jars are empty I refill them from the large jars. Saves money and since htere are only two of us this keeps us from buying more small jars. I also buy papre products withthe highest recycled content I can get, even if they cost a little more.

I break so much crockery accidentally that we now use washed out margarine containers as cereal and soup bowls :-)
