I JUST got a new Sylvania netbook 7 inches. I chose this over getting a phone with limited mobile use and having to pay an outlandish cell phone payment.
I got this new netbook for 99.99 st K-Mart. Now have to take it to my computer guy to get it up and running.
it will be just the right size to travel with. Only thing I have not figured out til it gets working is if I will play movies off my portable DVD player I have for my Dell Netbook.
Has anyone seen these little 7" netbooks?
Will let everyone know how it runs when it gets configured.

If you're just looking to play movies with it, look at the processor and the RAM. I have a Lenovo and it has a 3.6ghz processor with 2x2mb cache and 512mb RAM and I can surf the net and play videos using windows media player (high RAM eater) at the same time just fine. I'm not saying your CPU specs should be the same. A 1GHz processor and a 256mb RAM should play movies just fine. Although I'd suggest you download and install another player other than windows media because it spends too much RAM, not a great advice.

Thanks for the help. yea when I got my dell 11 inch netbook I had to take it in so they could download my little video player that came with it.
I like the netbooks cause they are smaller and lighter.
I just got the 7 inch for when I am in like a book store or Paneras where I go to unwind.
I only do mylot and another work site I write assignemnts on so it will be nice to carry a smaller one.
Showed it to my son's friend last night who is a computer geek and he freaked out at seeing a tiny laptop netbook so little LOL

Yes Barb, I like my netbook over a full size laptop.
I have a Dell netbook that is like 11 inches and only weighs like 3 lbs. I had a gateway laptop that weighed like 10lbs because of the DVD/CD player in it has to be larger. I like the smaller ones as they are easier to carry to book shops or Paneras Bread where I will sometimes go and have a bagel and cup of tea.
the new one I just got is only 7". It will fit easily in my purse. I was going to get one of the new tablets but I like the netbook because it looks just like a regular laptop and closes so the screen does not get scratched up.
I just have to get it configured since its new and get the wifi working right on it.
K-Mart had them for 99.00 and I had 63.00 on my K-Mart rewards so I only paid like 49.00 for it with taxes and warrenty.
Could not beat that savings at all.
And I don't have to pay 30.00 to 79.00 a month for a cell phone contract like I would have had to have with a tablet all the companies are coming out with.
I figured if one bellied up I would have a new one...

So, do they only work with wifi?
You make a good point about the screen getting scratched on a tablet. There's a business idea for you: tablet cosies...
