Has the internet become an addiction? I certainly feel it has for, i find my self surfing the net at every oppertunity. I seldom pick up a book or research at the library any more and i have found that i want to research just about anything. My husband finds this incredibly annoying but i just cant help it.

Hello Dear baileysdrinker! I won't term it as an addiction! I rather think that internet has become a necessity for every one! With the internet we have got information from all around the world on our finger tips! We are having current information on our computer which is available without taking any efforts! Internet made our lives so easy that many of us have forgotten what is a library is ! I recall the time when I used to waste hours of time to get few references on a article which today with internet I can do the same within few seconds. I can access to the various pictures and videos on the internet which other wise wouldn't have been possible to do! Practically every thing is possible in today's World with the help of internet! We can run a full fledged office just by sitting in our drawing room! We can establish contact with any person at any given time within few minutes! So I think Internet has become an integral part of today's life and terming it as an addiction would be unjustifiable thing, instead it should be termed as the 'necessity of today's life! Thanks for the discusiion, I like participating in it!

Hello Dear bailysdrinker! I am glad to know that you keep ponies and horses! I am a Vet working for one of the reputed Stud Farms in India where we breed Thoroughbreds for the purpose of racing! I am looking after some 350 + horses! May I know for what purpose you are keeping the ponies and horses? Do you breed them or you keep them just as a pastime? I am happy to meet another horse lover on this site! Yes, internet is a big boon for people like us who are staying far away from the township because of space restraint! I have put more than 25 years of experience in my profession, and now I feel a lot of difference in every aspect of my profession after the internet has come to my rescue!Things have gone easier, the information is available within no time, technical things are available in the form of text, image and videos online within seconds! Every thing has become systematic and there is no more ambiguity in the profession which was there once upon a time! Thanks for the comment ! Take care!

i toally agree. The internet has been a major thing for me. especially as i keep ponies and horse's and when i really need to know something i search the net for answers and this has proved fruitful for me over the last few years. The internet has expanded by a vast amount over the last 5 years, making peoples lives so much easier. Fropm shopping for the essentials and having them delivered to even the remote villages like mine. Myself not being a knowledgable bussiness woman, i have even been able to set up my own online shop which is proving to be very good. So even average people like me who have drfeams of running our own business but dont have the nessasry capital or knowledge actually have a chanmce to make a go and be a success.

For me, I can't really use the term "addiction" for my Internet use, as I'm homebound and NEED to use it throughout the day, daily.

That is the real beauty around the internet that if some one is homebound the internet can give a person veirtually everything they need, from information to ordering food, house products utility bills to our banks. It is an amazing thing.
