Is the show "Extreme Couponing" going to HURT couponers?

i am a self admitted coupon shopper addict and i love getting free products that if i cant use i can always pass it on to family and friends or donate to the storm victims etc..
now that the show "Extreme Couponing" has started up i just CRINGE! the reason? i think its going to make more people do it and there fore make it harder to do. the people they show on there are at places that seem to have NO rules when it comes to certain things (husband used to work in retail and i always look up the stores i shops coupon policy) so when these people are using 80 coupons that are all the same and in one transaction i wanna wave the BS flag! im sure they are stores that dont care but most chains are getting stricter by the second and ALSO since the show we have had 2 sundays papers with NO coupons! i know this has happened in the past before but it was like 2 sundays within 1 MONTH! im worried that they are going to slowly make us print them all soon and while its great to do it wastes a lot of ink and paper (some coupons take up a whole page for one coupon and have an ad or leave the rest blank so if you print 10 thats 10 pieces of paper used for a 1/4th the size)
i know the stores arent losing money so there shouldnt be a reason to make it harder but since the show happened at least 2 big chains (kroger and publix) switched there policy to be more strict!
not to mention the lady in the 1st or 2nd episode is a known scammer (cant remember her name but they took her facebook down that was hooked up to the site) she would print bogus coupons and pretty much steal.. do we REALLY need people like that representing us??
what are your thoughts? do you think the show will affect couponing? has you local paper been missing coupons lately? do you have those stores they have that let you get away with murder on your coupon use?

I have a few problems with the show.
1) People on the show are usually breaking the rules and being allowed to because they are on camera, so its not "true" couponing.
2) Many take everything on the shelf, and when they show you their stock pile, they have 300 jars of pasta sauce, 100 bottles of shampoo, 600 candy bars, 150 12 packs of toilet paper. I understand having a decent stock pile for yourself, but when you have way too much to use, and most of it will expire before you can use it, it is a waste. They could be helping out people less fortunate then themselves. Homeless shelters, poor people (such as elderly people, and single parents trying to give the best for their kid but still survive). I've seen some elderly people come into the store I used to work at, they would by cat food for their pet, but barely had enough food for their hygene needs or food.

not to make a joke of their poverty but are you sure the cat food was for the pet and not them? ive heard of old people buying dog and cat food and eating it to save money lol

Unfortunately I'm not 100% sure. I've heard of older people buying pet food and sharing it with their pets to save money. I wish I could guarantee it wasn't for them. With many older people living on social security alone, they are on a fixed income and sometimes do what they have to survive. Pets tend to help lonely people from leading a lonely life. Also, it has been proven that pets improve health.

I have noticed that coupons are getting smaller and that there are not a lot of coupons for food. I have been getting the Sunday paper and I do belong to one coupon website and they really do not many coupons for the items I use. I know that most websites have a limit on how many times you can print at a time. I only print coupons that I absolutely need.

im kind of screwed because i usually shop the clearance areas/isles and so i have to have coupons i dont think ill ever use because i buy for others. so i end up printing a lot i dont use but then i will have days where i will get stuff for free that id never use because i did print them and can give it to some one that needs it. still annoying when i run out of ink though!

Well, the show is extreme couponing. Those people do not make up even 1/8th of the couponing community. If you notice, the places that those people shop get away with a lot just because they have a camera crew.
Couponing has changed in the last 2 years. I don't blame this show for even recent changes, the economy flopping and more people couponing cause major policy changes.
I used to be really into couponing, but it is tiring! I was saving a lot of money, but it was taking up so much time I could have worked and made more money. Now I belong t a few different blogs that post up the best deals and the hottest coupons online. I don't have to look for the deals myself and I don't kill myself looking for coupons. I am happy with any money I save.

yes i think so because while i was watching the last one, i noticed the customer service rep from the store (i think) came over the the extreme couponer and told her she could only use one set of coupons. stores will be on the look out for people like this because these stores are here to make money and these couponers are getting so much stuff for free.

i hasdnt heard about it. when is the show on? channel? i sometimes print out coupons, then forget them when going to the store.
i print one then turn the paper over to print the other on the other side other end. that helps a little.
