Love to cook

I love to cook. Okay, so I love to eat also, lol. Sadly, it seems the recipe I put up will be removed. Though it had been over a year, more likely, since I'd been in here, I should have gone and checked the guidelines first. I buy the little recipe magazines in the check out aisle, to get ideas to create something of my own. For example, I looked at the ingredients for a Reuben sandwich, which I adore. Then I found a recipe for a German dish that used kraut and potatoes and thought, I could combine some of those items. I cooked it yesterday to carry for lunch this week. I had some today and it was so delicious. I try to figure out ways to make the dishes with less fat and sugar. Like when making a chowder I don't want to use cream. Yes, it tastes great but a light cream soup makes it just as creamy. So, the recipe may have to go bye bye, but the idea does not. Too bad I can't just slide you a bowl full through the computer. So, My Lot, I apologize. I will write on my mental black board 100 times I will not post recipes. And I will go back regularly to check the guidelines.

It is a crazy rule if you ask me. For those of us who love to cook, I can't see why we can't share and discuss recipes. Guess it's all about ratings

Sounds like a good idea. I'll have to remember that advice!

Yes, even links and sites you would think to be safe can get ya. I once went to a government site, I was searching for some information, and my computer went nuts. I had to back out of everything and do a virus scan. Fortunately that cleared it out, but wow.

I use yogurt on some dishes that ask for mayo. Or put half and half so that it has less fat. We, mylot cooks, would love to share our best dishes. And even if we cannot give out recipes, we give enough tips as to be able to learn about other placeĀ“s way of cooking

Hi Marquicha, I'm realizing that I have to think outside the box here in order to do just that. Looking about at some of the other posts in cooking I see I can ask about having tried foods with this ingredient or that. You can't just literally post a recipe. I'll get the hang of it. I like the olive oil mayo they put out. At least if I am going to use a fat, I try to use a healthy fat like avocado. It may be high in calories and fat but it's one of the good fats.

I did it once too...so don't feel bad. It was before I realized that you can't post them. But good for you that you can invent your own dishes! I am not much of a cook anymore...used to be but now that I live alone I am not that interested in cooking..only when I have company.

Hi Jill Hill, It that your last name? It's mine, lol. My husband is such a picky eater, it's a good thing I love to cook. Otherwise it would be black eyed peas, french fries and pork chops daily. He won't touch soups, salads, casseroles, etc. Trust me, that got old quickly. There are only a few things I won't eat. I need variety.
