San Felipe Beach NOT all its told to be!

So I recently moved to Mexicali and I have been wanting to go to a nearby beach. I heard that San Felipe was only 2 hours away and so I decided to pack up my family and go for the day. I was expecting a really nice beach because I have seen nice pictures and heard allot about it but instead, we get there and were highly dissapointed. The beach was realy dirty and the water was brown. Besides that though, there was nowhere to park and we had to pay $5 to park on a private residence. The kids did enjoy themselves at least. A beach is a beach to them I guess. As for me and my husband though, we will never go back. Has anybody else ever had this type of experience with San Felipe? Was there a part that I failed to see? Also, if anyone knows of any other nice beaches close to Mexicali, I would love to hear about them!
