Yes this happened to my parents. Some guy called saying "Hi Grandma, guess who this is?" Of course my mother said "Brandon" unknowingly giving him a name. He claimed he was in Canada in jail and had been arrested for speeding. Needed money of course. My mother told him that he would have to call back to speak to my father who was not at home at the time. She was really upset and called my brother who called me. I immediately called them and told them NOT to send the money because it was not my son. As luck would have it they had not sent anything. You really have to be on your toes now days. Please alert all your older relatives not to take calls like this to heart, that they are most likely scams. I hate to see an older person who has worked all their lives to save their money lose it to a thief!

Scammer are really on the loose. They dont care, what is ipmortant is that they get what they want. I remembered there was a news on TV, that a guy was a victim of scammer they got almost P500,000 thousand pesos (prepaid load). Its so much right?. That a certain numeber who pretend to be his mother, that they can sell prepaid load, but after a month he ask her mother if she recieved all the prepaid load that he send, his mother told him that he didn't recieved anything. Sad right?. It only shows that we should be careful dont trust people that easy.

It is so terrible some of the things that these scammers come up with isn't it. My nan is 90 and I like to make sure she doesn't answer the telephone or the door to people she doesn't know and if someone does arrive at her house she always has the door locked with a viewing hole to see who it is. These people are so low and this is a scam that I haven't heard of yet, I'll ensure that my nan is aware though so thanks for your posting.

I think we have the same problem here but in our place, the scam is being done through text messaging pretending they are someone you know that they change number and would like you to load for them and pay you later. We should be vigilant because we don't really know who to trust anymore.

hi tikbalang , in our world today many people are doing anything just to have a money! yes Doing ANYTHING they kill people just to have a money , they scam people , rubbed and many more , actually this situation is very familiar my brother is also a victim of this but victim of an load because there is a time that someone is pretending to be my cousin and sending an sms telling that " hi how are you there all ill be sending a package to you a clothes for kids and for you can you please load my roaming" this sms is for a relative on abroad , an scamming for a load , my brother received this sms and he told to us he asked me if my cousin changed his roaming number and i don't remember anything that she changed her number so my cousin tried to send a load to my cousin via Electronic E load then when our cousin call we asked her if she changed her number and answer me no i didn't, even if i am in the Italy someone is telling me that can i load her there are many messages coming because many people know that we have many relative to abroad, and they tried to scam us the lesson for us especially to my brother and i keep on telling to my auntie that DO NOT TRUST OTHER PERSON ESPECIALLY IN SMS and by using another mobile it is a little way that we will not entertain some scammers. I do believe in saying that "if we will entertain scammers there are no scamming technique.
