We're here in Singapore now to attend a fish exhibit in Suntec. Singapore is really a clean country and it's really nice and beautiful. Everything including the people are so organized! The buses and MRTs are nice and the streets, too. It's my first time here so I'm really amazed. What is not amazing is it's kind of expensive here. Maybe I'm saying that because I keep on computing the equivalent of Singapore dollars in peso. lol But it's really expensive, I did not bring a lot of money to buy souvenirs! Have you been to Singapore? What can you say about it?

Welcome to singapore!! Sorry for welcoming u so late, 3-4 days after u have been here!! haha =D Well, everything is definitely more expensive in singapore due to our cost of living. However, it's still lower than that of hongkong, japan and korea.. hehe ^_^ I hope u really enjoyed yourself here because if u like shopping, or even window shopping, there are alot of choices for u.. haha =D U have been to malaysia too right? So u see the reason why our citizens are flocking there?

Hi kun! If we ever meet in the future you'll have to treat me to a meal to make up for the lost opportunity of meeting me. Yeah, we went to Malaysia as I've told you in our email exchange but I did not enjoy shopping there. I did not do any shopping there actually. There weren't any souvenir shop in the mall where we went. But I'm thankful we were able to buy cheap chocolates in the supermarket. If not, we would have gone back to Bugis.

Very funny kun ... I only ate a few chocolates when I got home. I gave all of them to my little niece and nephew and to my friends. But I have really gotten darker and I think I'm still getting darker! All of my officemates have noticed that. My friends who I went swimming with before I went to Singapore have already gotten back their natural skin color. I'm the only one left!!! Yes, there were a lot of people in Bugis! So crowded! But it was my first time there and I was seeing a lot of colorful stuffs and I like looking at colorful stuffs! So I really enjoyed it there and it was there that I ate a block ice cream! That was new to me and I was really amazed. There's no block ice cream here in our country. And we don't put ice cream in wafers. We saw Illuma but we did not go there. It was already late in the afternoon when we arrived at Bugis Junction and we stopped going around at Bugis Street by 7 and went back to the hotel. Another different thing I noticed was that the sun sets later in your country than mine! It was already 7 in the evening and yet, the day is still bright! And in the morning, we always wake up late since the sun rises late, it was already 7AM and yet it was still a little dark! It's hard to adjust with that.

OF course!! I will definitely treat u to a nice meal should u ever come here again! Beside that, u can contact me directly instead of via email where it's so inconvenient for u ^_^ Actually most singaporeans are only there for grocery shopping because it costs half of what it's here.. haha =D I know why is your skin tone so dark, not because of the sun and swims, it's because of the chocolate u eaten! haha =D Effects are reflected on your skin?? hehe ^_^ Just kidding!! Dun u find bugis crowded? It might be fun, but boring after a while.. hehe ^_^ OR did u go over to Illuma? IT's just opposite bugis.

It's been a long time I drop by mylot.. and it's nice to hear that you are in Singapore. Welcome!~ I'm from Singapore and I agree that some things are pretty expensive here. I'm not sure what kind of souvenirs you are thinking of buying but I suggest you not to buy from those tourist places like Sentosa as they marked up the prices a hell lot. Souvenirs in places like Chinatown are more affordable (i think). I hope you will enjoy your stay here!~

I haven't been here in myLot, too. Thanks for the heads up. If we decide to visit Sentosa I will remember not to buy any souvenirs there. I will suggest to my friends to go to Chinatown. Even simple key chains or fridge magnets will do as souvenirs. I wanted to go out tonight but my friends are all so tired. I'm the only one who's awake now and I'll be sleeping a little later. Singapore is really great, unlike with Manila which is so polluted and congested with traffic. Here, it's really nice, there are lots of trees around, the streets are clean, the buses stop only at the right places, commuters are at the right places, everything is really organized.

Well, the government "trained" us well... I haven't been to Manila so I'm not sure what things are like there but my friends who have been there, like Manila. If you are thinking of key chains and fridge magnets, I would suggest Bugis Village. The things there are pretty affordable. How long do you intend to stay in Singapore?

I wish our government is like your government. Manila is so congested. There are some nice places but the bad things are the roads, the traffic, the pedestrian, the pollution, and many other things. Your place is much better. I like the organized system and the cleanliness of the roads and air. I will suggest to my friends to go to Bugis Village. We will be staying here until Sunday. We attended a seminar this day and tomorrow there'll be a seminar, too. Saturday and Sunday we will be going to places.

I have been to Singapore a few years ago and that was my first foreign tour. I was amazed at all the shopping malls. I still remember when I had walked into a mall and spotted some red striped paper serviettes my husband said that we will come back the next day and look at the place once again and pick what else we might require. When we returned the next the shop was closed which was a disappointing experience. Singapore I observed is a clean place and there is discipline at every nook and corner.

Yeah! The shopping malls are great here especially if you have the money! I've seen a lot of things that I like but I have to save money because we'll be staying here until next week.

This was a package tour and it covered Bangkok and Pattaya too. I remember buying a whole lot of chocolates my favourite and being Christmas time the entire streets of Singapore were adorned with Christmas decorations with carol singing everywhere. It was a wonderful experience. I never looked back after that where travel was concerned as I have travelled to several other places but this first trip of ours is etched in my memory.

Hi chiwasaki! Yeah, it's really nice there. No heavy traffic, no pollution. It also crossed my mind to find work there. But it's just an idea, I don't plan on pursuing it, yet. But if opportunity knocks, I might grab it.

I haven't been there. I'd love to but have no money. Maybe when I got lots of bucks from here BUT that would be a way long to go. I've been to Macau, Hong Kong and China though. But that was my father's expense. Among th three, Macau is the cleanest and a bit good unlike here in the Philippines. I will visit Singapore soooooon. I would love to ride those buses and trains too.

Hi adnileb! Wow! You've been to lots of places abroad already! We were planning to go to Hongkong before but the plan always never push through. I was in charge of choosing the tour package but whenever I get a good one, my companions always think twice and thrice and back out because they say it's expensive. But when we went to Singapore they spent more than what they will spend in Hongkong. You should go to Singapore, it's a really good place to visit.

I have visited Singapore three times in my lifetime so far. I found it6 to be an excellent introduction to South East Asia. I had arrived there after being in Australia and so I found it to be an interesting and safe destination. I found it to be a very clean and well ordered city. I loved seeing the islandm, the national park, the bird reserve and the shopping streets. In a cafe I saw lots of local people with birds in cages. They were listening to the bird song. I liked the local buses, the MRT and the trains up to Malaysia. I found it had a similar price to Austalia and it was cheaper than my home country. Indonesia had very low costs amd Malaysia had much lower costs than in Singapore. I stayed at backpacker hostels in Singapore.

Wow! You've been there three times?? You must have really enjoyed it there! Well, I think I might go back there if I have the money and the opportunity. But when that time comes, I will choose carefully my companions! Or better yet, I will go alone. We weren't able to go to that cafe with lots of people with bird cages! I wish I could have seen that. I also liked the buses and MRTs. It was very easy to travel because of it. Everything was so orderly. And you only had to use a card! It's very efficient. We also went to Malaysia but we couldn't enjoy shopping for cheaper goods there. We had limited time and that's why we weren't able to go to Indonesia, too.

very expensive, true. i dont even know why. maybe to make the city organize and clean people pay high taxes that is why the cost of everything there is high, though i am not sure if that is the reason. when we are working at malaysia during i offs we will travel on a train to go to singapore. we dont do that often for its expensive but it is just nice to experience 2 different country while working abroad. i would love to go back there but of course i would like to bring my son and wife along with me. and that would be for fun not for work. and because it is expensive there i need to save a lot. but before that we are saving for Hongkong disneyland.... enjoy your stay there and do not stress yourself too much on what to buy a lot of people understand that it is expensive in singapore. enjoy!

So you work in Malaysia! That's nice. We are planning to go there this Saturday. They say it's just near to Singapore so we should take the opportunity to visit it. I have already told my friends that I will not be bringing home any souvenirs because it's very expensive here and I don't have the money so there. But I might buy some chocolates for my family especially my niece and nephew.

Glad to know that you are in Singapore and you love this country. I too love Singapore for its international shopping paradise, cleanliness and tourist friendly. I love to visit its Night Safari, Sentosa Island and many places of interest. I do agree their currency (Singapore Dollar) making the conversion pricey....I hardly buy any souvenir there. However, at the moment the Singapore Great Sale is on till July. You may look out for some good shopping bargains there

Hi! Yeah, it's very clean there and the people are very well-disciplined and everything is so organized. One myLotter who is a Singaporean said, their government "trained" them to be so. And I think that's good. I wasn't able to visit their zoo and the underwater world, but we were able to visit Sentosa and that was really a great tourist spot.

I guess Singaporean products are really expensive. Though I have never been there. But you see, different countries/nation have their own specialty. Like Philippines specialty would be the diversity of the ecosystem.

Hi secretbear, I'm a singaporean and very very glad to hear your praise for our country. It's quite clean around here but i think we still need to put in more effort because there are many who throw things around too. It's a crime to litter in public areas. Yes, things are really expensive here, especially now that we are experiencing inflation, which make things worse.

Yeah, I've seen a few garbage but that is nothing compared to our country. I've heard that chewing gums are not allowed in your country, too? I saw a used chewing gum in a table beside the pool here in the hotel and I thought maybe a guest here does not know about the rule here. Oh, inflation is really bad. Bad for tourists, too.

Hi secretbear, I have been to Singapore a long time back, about 25 years back. I agree with you Singapore is one of the most disciplined and clean city. I am lucky to be able to visit some of the famous cities in Europe but none can be compared with Singapore in those two respects. I thought Singapore is one of the cheapest place on earth as far as shopping is concerned, Particularly electronics, gold, sports material etc.. May be it has become expensive now. The food in Singapore is also great. There is a lot of Indian community there and they serve good quality Indian food at reasonable rates.
